Although a thin book of 100 pages with photos, this is the most honest, self-revealing account of the Bjorn Borg ascent to the top of the tennis world by this legendary clay-court phenom. So revealing, in fact, that he predicts his fall from the tennis world in the chapter where he discusses the emotional entanglements of world-class players, at the time('74) unaware that he would slip into that category 5 years later much to the loss of the tennis world. In this slim book he admits the close-call matches that hung in the balance and went his way by chance. He describes his most competitive adversaries and his most technically perfect matches. And he admits to instances of emotional outbursts spilling into tennis matches, most of these unseen to American audiences. Until recently you may not know that Bjorn back in a 1973 Wimbledon men's second round Bjorn was a serve-and-volleyer rushing the net constantly! His routines, some of his advisors/mentors that made him successful are revealed. This book was written by an 18 year-old with his biggest triumphs ahead of him when he was a teenage girl magnet. Here, Bjorn is riding an exhilarating wave to the top about to lose his compass on the edge of a precipice.
