Book Description

A crowded restaurant in Washington, D.C. A powerful Congressman is lunching with a wealthy contributor who suddenly rises from his chair and shoots the Congressman dead in front of a hundred witnesses. Quietly, he resumes his seat, placing the gun on the table as he awaits the authorities. Thus begins ten days of terror, ten days in which the nation teeters on the brink of anarchy. Inadvertently drawn into this murderous conspiracy is Paul Castle, a once promising newspaper reporter, now the host of a third rate cable show that deals in sleaze and scandal. Castle suddenly finds himself a pawn in a series of bizarre murders that have gripped the nation in fear. Secretly aided by an avuncular New York homicide detective and hounded by an ambitious FBI agent, Castle seeks to get to the bottom of the mystery and in the process, regain his lost self-respect. With the future of the country at stake he knows he cannot afford to fail.

Why am I Writing again?
Written by Peter S. Fischer

After nearly three decades of surviving in the television business as a writer and a producer, I exited stage right in search of a serene life style as I made
my way toward eternity. Serene turned out to be an inappropriate description. Doldrums is far more accurate so three years ago I dusted off my manual typewriter (literally) and with some trepidation, tried to put my years of experience into writing a novel. I had no interest in reviving a television career.TV is a
young person's game. The studio executives and the network poobahs are all
sub-30's and we speak different languages. Besides, writing for television and the wealth and success it can bestow on you also demands that you give up a
certain measure of

I downloaded this book for free and realized after reading that it was as good (or better) than most books I paid full price for. Will be getting more from this author when I run low on books (backlogged pretty heavy now!)

5.0 out of 5 stars a wild Ride November 18, 2009
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I was recommended this book by a friend and I was not disapointed. Whatever your political affiliation this book is very relevent to the times. I am a mystery buff and thriller addict. This book takes you on a wild ride through the health care reform debate that is clutching the country right now. No matter what side of the fence you are on ( I like to refer to myself as a republicrat) it gets you thinking about where this country is headed and who is taking us there. Great read!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Art Imitates Life to the Letter April 7, 2013
Format:Paperback
In Peter S. Fischer's political thriller, "The Blood of Tyrants," government is shrinking at a radical rate, though certainly not in ways that will fill Capitol Hill - or maybe even voters themselves - with feelings of unmixed delight. Specifically, a pool of legislators is being systematically assassinated in connection with their support of a controversial bill. The most baffling element, however, is that their killers fit absolutely none of the profiles of anarchists, terrorists or left-wing kooks normally associated with such malevolence. In a nutshell, these are workaday people like you and me who have never registered a single blip on anyone's radar screen, much less racked up any overdue parking tickets. What, then, has driven these mild-mannered citizens - unknown to one another in any context - to suddenly commit murder, cognizant of the consequences it will bring?

As Paul Castle, host of a third-rate cable show, starts to assemble a smattering of disparate clues, it is not only his reputation on the line but his life - and the lives of those he loves - that is placed in jeopardy by a dangerous adversary. In his younger years, Castle would have been a role tailor-made for Paul Newman and akin to his work in "The Verdict." If cast today, my choice would be William Atherton, who played the slimy reporter Richard Thornburg in the first "Die Hard." Having seen Atherton perform in a local production of "The Glass Menagerie," he would aptly capture the tortured spirit of someone for whom redemption seems an elusive but nevertheless coveted quest.

5.0 out of 5 stars Every member of Congress should read this book. November 14, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Even though this is a work of fiction, it presents a view of our political process that is, sadly, very close to the way things really work.
Unlike a lot of Kindle books, this one is written by a REAL writer. Peter Fischer does an excellent job of developing the characters and telling the story in a way that holds your interest. Editing was excellent. Buy this book!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book regardless of your political persuasion!! September 24, 2010
Format:Paperback
This is one fast running, hard hitting story that you will not be able to put down!! I had to pick up five of this one and the sequel to share with my closest friends. There is a shuddering plausibility to the lengths that fictional citizens go to protect our nation in the face of tyrannical takeover.. which makes the story that much more agonizingly gripping.

Thanks, Peter for "coming off the bench" and writing a novel out of your comfort zone.. for the entertainment of all and the protection of our nation! Paul in Atlanta

5.0 out of 5 stars Is it fiction......or non-fiction! February 19, 2010
Format:Paperback
Reviewing a book?? Are you kidding? All my life I have had that (now described) affliction called ADD or mild dyslexia. I recall reading Moby Dick as a young teen cover to cover and......that was that!! Never again would I torture myself like that!
Cliff notes and movies were for me for the next 48 years ......until I was FORCED to read my old neighbor's novel just to keep the peace. I did "FORCE" my way through the first chapter with many moments of drifting. (you ADDs out there know what I mean). Then, there was a shot...........and I needed a little more.......and another death.....and I needed a lot more!! Then there was a connection with medicine and law enforcement and I was hooked. Since I had had a nice career in healthcare and had family in the FBI, I new I could find plenty of factual errors and laughable assumptions. WRONG! The author's knowledge base was spot on and the suspense was driving me crazy. I went from a snail's pace on that first chapter to finishing the last 5 chapters in one sitting! If you knew me you would not believe that. Only one thing left to say............................
"READ THIS BOOK"!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Watching the debates in Congress? This is must-read November 22, 2009
Format:Paperback
I found this book on one of the discussion groups, which I am new to. What a find! The blood of Tyrants kept me riveted and thinking the whole way through.
It is truly scary how quickly this country could change direction with a few highly placed leaders in power. The plot, which involves political assassinations, is also a
scary thought but the book had me wanting to know what was going to happen next and how far things would go. The main characters are well-written and I found Paul Castle very
interesting. I liked him. If you are watching the current events in Washington closely, most notably healthcare reform and the state of tv news, this book will add to that conversation. I do not condone violence. The book was exciting and
makes you think. I would recommend it highly. It is also written by the guy from "Murder, She Wrote". I grew up watching it and have good memories trying to figure the clues out.
