If you want to look behind the chirpy ads and slick packaging of America's major corporations, The Blue Pages can help you get your bearings before you spend. For many corporate hucksters, our ignorance is their bliss -- but hopefully not for long. Let the seller beware!" -- Norman Solomon, author Made Love, Got War

This book gives you great insight into how companies lobby and contribute their profits to politicians, and it also provides information on litigation, settlements and humanitarian causes that are associated with that business.

If you want your hard earned money to be directed to positive areas, with companies who use their money in a fair and balanced way, then this knowledge is power, and shopping is a fact of life. A tool to help align yopurself with companies who have the same interests, ethics and values. This book assists by giving key information in a concise and easy to read format, the index makes the search so quick and easy - it fits in your purse!

It is surprising to find how much money is dropped into the political coffers by some of these companies, without regard for public good, but personal lobby gain. It is truly enlightening, and this book now assists me in making decisions to stop doing business with entities that I determine are conducting themselves outside the scope of the morality, ethics and values I hold dear.

This book is easy to use, well worth referring to often (mine is in my glove compartment, and easily switched to my purse). People have the power to control where their money goes long after you leave the store or pay the bill, so it pays to be well armed with information. Know that when you shop, when you spend your money with a particular merchant, retailer, restaurant, investor etc. you are controlling and contributing to what is important and valued by 'you'.

This has been an excellent tool during my studies and revealed how companies are interacting in our political system. A must have for those involved in Political Science or who want to know about more about how companies are intertwined in the political process. Very surprising! A++

This is a fantastic resource for determining a company's political and social stance. If you are someone like me who does not like to spend my money at stores who have policies and support causes that are contrary to my view, you now have a one-stop resource to figure things out. For example, did you know that Amazon has a program that lists the best green products they offer? Or that they have outreach for literacy programs and disaster relif? They also offer health insurance coverage to employees' domestic partners. I didn't know that either, but now I do! This book is awesome!

I only paid a penny for this used copy, which is about 5 years old, but it contains a wealth of information about the business practices (and MALPRACTICES) of just about every corporation, large and small, in existence in the U.S. today. I have no doubt that the same info can be applied and enlarged upon today, and in an election year, it is very interesting to see exactly how these businesses and organizations use their profits to influence politics. I have definitely altered my views on certain companies I have patronized in the past, and have stopped buying from those that do not practice ethical business in the marketplace. Really interesting to browse through!

A lot of information here, including an overview of each category discussing how it has been affected by the recent economic downturn. Perhaps most interesting is seeing how many companies contribute financially to both parties, and have ethics violations alongside community and charitable contributions. But the book does help in making an informed decision about where to spend your money.
