This is a very helpful guide from an originator of the practical art of reading body language. There are a lot of "experts" on body language. How many had a PhD before the age of 30? How many are published in prestigious medical journals? As a speech therapist, Dr. Glass understands not only body language but breathing, projection, volume, accent and inflection -- i.e., the physical science behind body language. You don't get the details from years of study here -- you get the results of all that work. Sure, there are other body language experts. Most of them have Dr. Glass' books on their shelves. Start (or end) your reading on body language with Dr. Glass.

The Body Language Advantage is a must read written by Dr. Lillian Glass, she has touch so many lives and has helped so many people with her writing. I love her books, they have changed my life for sure in many ways. She is a 5 star writer at everything she writes and is one of my favorite Authors ever. She has taught me how to read through people, the body language does not lie and it is signs for all of us to know. Toxic People, helped me so much cope with my Dad and childhood. Also how people sometimes bring us down and wear us out and if you stay around them you will never be happy. She is beautiful from the outside but from the inside and knows what she is talking about. I hope everyone buys this book and a lot of her others, I was not a big reader until I started reading her books and now I love it.

This book is a must for anyone who deals with people. Whether you are in sales, customer service or just starting out in the workforce, this book can help you pick up on non-verbal clues (Some subtle and others obvious).
Being a visual learner, I appreciate the pictures. I don't think the book was meant to be a disortation on body language but more of a quick reference guide for all of us trying to succeed in our professional life. Oh yea, how could I forget the personal aspect as well. I recommend this book to anyone who wants the edge in life!

This book mostly has pictures showing the different poses of body language. While this is helpful, I found that I could already read more body language than I thought I did (or this book is a very simplistic view of it, I'm not sure...)

For those of you, like me, who like to see pictures and practice based off of that, this is a real good reference point. I enjoyed the explanations along with it as well.

This is the most pathetic body language book I have every seen. It might be useful for Martians who visit earth for the first time. The advice is super general. The book is full of very non-natural pictures of two people illustrating various postures. We have a woman leaning forward (normal when listening) and a man leaning backward (normal when listening). Just as an illustration of the level of depth in the book: We get an illustration of what a soft and a loud voice means.

There is one section on toxic people in the book. This section provides a lot of detail about body language. We are treated to statements like "tight, pursed-lip grins, and their lips do not turn up at the corners as happens with a genuine or sincere smile". This was obviously too difficult for the hired actors to recreate so this section is totally without pictures. The section that really would have benefited from pictures. Maybe we are supposed to buy the author's other book on that specific topic.

One star is generous for this book.

This is a very interesting boook. I knew almost nothing about body language before I read it, but after reading it I've gained an appreciation for the subtle ways people communicate their thoughts and desires nonverbally. Very readable.
