The Bonds of Blood is an excellent start to what looks like is an excellent new fantasy series. The characters are likable and interesting, and the world itself is deep and complex. The author's use of existing folklore and mythology in a delightful patchwork makes for interesting (and unexpected) turns and twists as the story goes on. Definitely not your average dragons, damsels in distress, and knights story. Highly recommended.

I received a complimentary copy of The Bonds of Blood by Travis Simmons as a member of Beck Valley Book Tours. All opinions are my own.

I really enjoyed The Bonds Of Blood by Travis Simmons. In fact, I'm enjoying and will be reviewing the entire The Revenant Wyrd Saga series. Being a book about magic and sorcery and different realms there are some words that are hard to pronounce so you'll just have to sort of go with the flow. But Travis Simmons does a wonderful job of describing the scenes and the characters. It was easy for me to envision Jovian and his sisters, their clothes, the beasts and visions they encountered, etc.

Jovian, Angelica, Amber, and Joya are wonderful characters. I love how they are written and how they interact as siblings. Their love, concern and connection to each other is refreshing. I also love that even though this is a book about a magical realm, the characters really interact with each other in a traditional way. The brother and sisters joke with each other. They laugh and have fun. It's not just all magic. They eat a lot of breakfast too. bacon, eggs, etc. I was hungry for breakfast food the entire time I was reading it! HA!

One thing that confused me at times was the time period. The story feels medieval and you have that sense while you're reading. The weapons, the language. But the clothing and where they live (on a plantation) reminds me of Cival War era. So I felt like I was being yanked back and forth a bit as I was envisioning the story in my mind. It was confusing, but really cool! I love getting the feel of different era's and the "mystic-ness" of this series. It will certainly draw you in.

In fact, I couldn't put the first book down! I read it in one weekend.

Travis Simmons' book The Bonds of Blood was one of the best fantasy books I have read in a long time! In the beginning it was a little hard to keep up with what was going on because of the many point of views but as I read I became familiar with Mr. Simmons' style of writing. His descriptions were very vivid and clear.

The story of Jovian and his sisters, Amber, Angelica, and Joya begins with mystery. When their 21st birthday arrives they receive gifts from their deceased mother that they later learn will become more important to them than when they first received them. For years a secret has been hidden from the siblings that may or may not have prevented them from the mission of having to save their sister Amber who was kidnapped from her bedroom.

This first book of the series really helps you to grow with the characters. You're there with them when they lose their virginity and as they figure out their strengths and weaknesses. I really connected with Joya as she struggled with what is right and what is wrong. I can't wait to read the second book to see which direction she levitates toward. I'm also interested in finding out how Jovian will be brought back and if this family will end up with the weight of their entire realm on their shoulders.

I recommend this Series to anyone who loves fantasy or mythical books. There are so many different races and I'm sure there might be even more within the other realms, that will surely spark your imagination!

As with any book that uses unconventional names and story lines, this book takes a little to get used to. I was really thankful that the author provided useful background information in the beginning and repeated names and story lines so that the reader is prepared for the rest of the story. Since this book is about different realms, magic and fantasy the additional information is very useful.

The story is based on quadruplets: Jovian, Angelica, Amber and Joya. The four siblings interact well together and yet each have their own distinctive personalities. There are six different realms in the story and these siblings are from one of them. When Amber is kidnapped, the rest must travel across the realms to find her. As they travel, they unravel new secrets and of course, must contend with evil.

Overall the book was a wonderful read! I can't wait to read the other two books in the series!

When I first started reading the book, I was a bit confused. The relationships of the main characters, the introduction of new characters, and some of the setting details (yes, I paint a picture as I read) were not very clear and somewhat choppy. I kept on truckin through the book and was I happy I did.

As I got deeper into the book, it all kinda came together. I loved the storyline! It was full of suspense and emotion. You really began to feel what the characters were feeling. Travis did a great job leaving you on the edge of your seat as the journey continued.

There was a ton of creative concepts in the various subplots, monsters, etc. This really helps a reader like myself, as I visualize as I read. I could picture this as a movie in my head. I kinda felt like I was lifted from my reality and places inside the book!

I can wait to see the next installment of the series.
