Review

"Heart-changing fiction. This was such an amazing read. I found myself with tears streaming down my face at one point and by the end, wow...I had such a repentant heart. A not-to-be-missed short story. One of the few books I have read recently that I know I will read again and again, and take the message and apply it to my life." - Laura J. Marshall, Author of Persistent Love and the Battle Cry devotional series

From the Author

Unfortunately, I don't feel like I can take any credit for The Book of the Harvest. The inspiration for this story came like a flash of lightning, hand-delivered in a manner I have rarely experienced as an author. It is my belief that God gave me this story and that it was my job to put it in print without screwing it up too badly. I see how He orchestrated events in my life to provide inspiration for certain scenes and I see His hand moving throughout. If this book touches you, if the Holy Spirit uses it in your life, it's got nothing to do with me. It's all Him! Each time I put words on paper, it is my most sincere desire to glorify Jesus Christ. I pray He is glorified through this story.

I was fortunate to see this author's postings on CrossReads while I was spending time on Facebook. I agreed to give an honest review in exchange for receiving this book. Having said that, I will say that I was truly blessed to see his posting, or I would probably not have seen this incredible book.

The Book of the Harvest is a work that I believe was inspired by the Holy Spirit. Brad Francis poured his very heart into this book. There are books that will be opened in heaven, but as Brad said, this particular book is not mentioned in the Bible. I believe that is because there would be more tears in heaven than on earth if every believer saw what the effects of disobedience yielded; how our fear, indifference or prejudices made an eternal difference in who we see in eternity. It was a very quick read, but it was a book that I will reread over and over. I don't say that many books have truly changed my life, but I do believe this one will. I pray that it does. If you want to truly see into the heart of Jesus, read this book.

This book is a serious wake-up call. It reminds us in a very powerful way of our responsibility here on earth to be the instruments of God regardless of our own busy schedules or the way others might view us. It has definitely made me stop and think about times I may have ignored the prompting of the Holy Spirit and what the impact may be on the lives of the people I could have touched. So ready to be more aware - to heed the small voice and be obedient.

You'll have to read the Book of the Harvest to find out what the Book of the Harvest is. What? You didn't know this book was in Heaven? Yes, this is a "speculative" view of Heaven, from the point of view of the narrator, someone who's been there a long time. By the way, if you thought Heaven was a dull place with nothing but clouds and harps, think again. If you've read Revelation, you know there's a Crystal Sea. imagine the possibilities, in a lighthearted way, and ...
You might not entirely agree with the author's view of Heaven. But the most important thing about this book is that Brad Francis says we should live as if this book of lists really exists. But the truth is, we never really want to see our list. Never. In the book, it's clear that you only get one chance to see this list, but, let's just say, it would make you happy if you had no list. Let's just say, if you took pains to keep this list empty, maybe there would be less need for the verse that says, "God shall wipe away tears".

This book might be short but it packs a punch! It's definitely thought provoking. I know I can think of times I haven't listened to that small voice and regretted it later wondering "should I have..."? After reading this I pray I'll not only listen but also obey should the opportunity arise. While I'm saddened at the opportunities lost I'm left with hope in that I still have time on this earth to make a difference...and a beautiful vision of a loving worshipful eternity yet to come.

This is a very different book. Even though it is fiction it has a great message. I felt convicted as I read it. How many times have I ignored the Holy Spirit. How many names would I find in the book if it were real. Without retelling it all here I can say that I am very glad that I read it and you will be too when you read it. It is a wake up call for all Christians.

This book will change your spiritual life about being sensitive to listening to the Holy Spirit. For on thing, it takes away the barriers that we use when it comes to making discipleship and evangelizing. It will make you feel bold enough to do whatever it is God leads you to do to win souls.

It's a book that pacts a wallop about the lost and if we are doing everything that we can to leads souls to Christ.

Told fictionally, it however has a real life impact.

What if you were in Heaven, basking in the glory of the Father and you see a book called the Book of the Harvest, a book that shows you who the Holy Spirit assigned to you to bring the message of the Christ. What if you found out that a single act of kindness would have been the catalyst for a soul coming to Christ and you didn't do it? That's the gist of this story but it's more to it than that.

I love Francis' afterword in the book where he puts things into perspective. It is a wonderful, God given read and will change your heart.
