Book Description

Wouldn't it be nice if we all held hands and pooped rainbows?

Sure, but until our world becomes a technicolor paradise, what's the REAL way for people to get happy?

Avoiding catastrophe.

This parody of "The Book of Awesome" outlines one awful(ly ridiculous) scenario after the next, to demonstrate how much worse life could really be. Whether it's a world where you finally meet your evil twin, the cancellation of Facebook, or the discovery of unicorns that forever alters society, you'll feel relieved you're only READING about it.

For ease of comprehension, the author lends her humble experiences to several topics, and leaves no stone of embarrassment unturned (not even the one where she had head lice as a grown adult).

To cover off a vast array of concerns, the book is sectioned off into highly relevant topics for mankind:

1. Self-Image
2. World Issues
3. Life Skills
4. Food and Drink
5. Society and You
6. Alternative Lifestyles
7. Stalking, Dating and Romance

You can read it all at once or jump in when you're feeling blue.

Not that you'll feel "awesome" by the time you're finished...

...but overwhelming relief?

Highly probable.

Editorial Reviews

From the Author

Other works:

"Year of the Chick:" Available now, this full-length novel is one woman's quest to find love within a year, all to avoid arranged marriage. There's edgy humor and there's heart, not to mention lots of family awkwardness, lots of gross guys, and cautionary Internet romance; you can't go wrong.

"NOT Love Poems For Real Life:" Available now for only 99 cents, this collection of 30 poems covers off everything the real poets forgot about, like rejection, creepos, kissing frogs whilst in search of a prince, being someone else's frog bitch before they find someone better, all the fun stuff! [DISCLAIMER: the collection contains strong language and grown up themes like: sexy time, humiliation, and the fear of dying alone.]

3.0 out of 5 stars "The Book of Awful"; It's really not that bad. July 11, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
Romi Moondi writes a humor blog. In it she talks about her body, her desire for sex/a mate/a boyfriend, her urban life, and pretty much anything else she finds funny/ironic/sad. In "The Book of Awful", Ms. Moondi shares those views on Santa Claus, body hair, having three arms, Facebook, dating and not-dating, and men with beards, all with a cynical, and not quite bitter slant.
There are a handful of laugh out loud moments (maybe more if you are a single, urban, Indian-American woman); certainly enough to justify the cost. Buy this e-book and read it. I think you'll find it worth your while. (I received a complimentary copy of this book for the purpose of reviewing it.)

5.0 out of 5 stars Sunshine, Lollipops, and Bluebirds April 20, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I love cupcakes, the smell of bread baking, birds chirping and all that malarky; but there's nothing quite like the feeling of having dodged a bullet. This book is a dense volume of bullet-dodging scenarios that will not only leave you with that satisfying feeling of "glad I'm that not that guy", but also a thoroughly busted gut!

DO NOT drink milk or eat noodles while reading this book, they will shoot out your nose (unless you're into that sort of thing, in which case, all the power to you).

A refreshingly comedic take on "wellness" and "motivational" literature. For those surviving any semblance of an 'ordinary' life, this is a must read. Frank, honest, and sometimes shockingly candid, Moondi lays it all out for us to revel, mock, and revere.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great New Voice May 17, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I've never seen a better combination of racy wit, sarcasm, pop culture awareness and (yet) humility. More importantly, I laughed my you-know-what off too many times to count. Moondi has a spectacular voice that's on display on every page. Hopefully she can put a few more books out before big media snatches her up and takes her away.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sarcastic, Cynical, Hilarious April 19, 2011
By Pamela
Format:Kindle Edition
The minute I read the book blurb I knew I needed this book. It was worth every penny. It's so stinkin' funny!

The book is a collection of stories from the author's own life which reflect on the world around us. Like the fact that there are worse things in life than getting head lice as an adult. I guess that's one thing to be grateful for. lol

Basically, if you want a fun read with cynical humor that will make you laugh and feel just a little more grateful for what you have, well this book's for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sarcasm at it's best! June 28, 2011
By Domingo
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
After reading several serious intense fictional books, I decided it was time to lighten up the mood and read something with a little more humor. I actually stumbled upon this book as a result of another book which it parodies. . ."The book of Awesome" I decided to forgo all the mushy topics of the other book for this one. From the start this book had me laughing, it makes you realize how things can be worst for you. I also found myself actually laughing out loud during my morning commutes. With that I recommend this book for those individuals who find humor even in the most serious of times.

5.0 out of 5 stars Funny and Real June 19, 2011
By David
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Been reading Moondi's Wordpress blogs for about 4 years and it's an awfully wonderful thing that she's published here! The Book of Awful is just the right blend of pain and comedy that you're probably looking for. It's fast, funny and has a special little twist of 'observational fantasy' that Romi Moondi is so good at! Add Romi to your short list of Funny Canadian Women. This book is a steal!

5.0 out of 5 stars Pure comedic brilliance! June 11, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Tasteless and tacky brilliance. PURE BRILLIANCE! I humbly bow before Ms. Moondi's comedic writing skills, back fat, head lice and all.

In fact, if Romi Moondi and I were in the same coffee shop together, and there were no couches available, I'd stand by a couch and fart (believe me, I can call gas on command) and clear a space, so she could sit by me and pretend to be my friend. Don't worry, I'd starve myself two months in advance and get some rhinoplasty and butt implants, so I could resemble a cross between Courtney Cox and Jennifer Aniston. Then I'd sing Smelly Cat or whatever to her in honor of her awesomtastic and hilarious novel.

4.0 out of 5 stars You Were Thinking It Too! June 7, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
Moondi's dry sarcasm and caustic wit combine for a parody of epic proportions. But really, this book just gives her space to say the things we're all thinking anyway, things we keep inside our minds, trapped behind that social filter. Good for her, getting these thoughts out in the open! In "The Book of Awful," there's a no-holds-barred approach to life in the modern world, reported with a biting humor you can't get enough of! I laughed out loud so much, my husband is reading it for himself now! Loved it!

You have to be in the mood to read about any and everything per chapter. I know it's meant to lift your spirit and promote laughter, but the stories are too random in the book.

More About the Author

I am Canadian, and here are some strange personal facts:

-I wore denim-top-to-bottom in high school (there is a direct inverse relationship between how much denim I wore and how few tongues were launched down my throat at school dances...or anywhere in high school at all).

-A homeless lady in New York once told me "You're just a bitch on vacation with no money!"

-I always hated those insufferable couples who would cuddle and make out on the subway...until I became half of one. But now I'm back to being none of one so I hate them again.

The thing I love most in the world is writing. When I first started publishing on Amazon it was my "crazy" humour side ("The Book of Awful," and "NOT Love Poems For Real Life"). Since then, everything has focused on my "Year of the Chick" series, because it's the most important thing to me in the world right now. I guess that would tend to happen, when your writing is inspired by real life, including all the satisfaction and risks that come from that.

My "Year of the Chick" series can be described as "edgy rom-com," which helps me account for the blunt conversations and mortifying family moments in the book ;-).

Book 3 in the "Year of the Chick" series will be written and released in 2013; until then I have some adventures to go on!
