Book Description

May 1, 2012 Bootstrapper's Guide

Creating a successful mobile-web presence is achievable with the tools found in this guide—without needing to learn a programming language or become a Web designer. Such a presence is now a necessity, rather than a luxury, for all businesses, organizations, and independent professionals to stay competitive. This quick, practical, hands-on introduction to the nuts and bolts of using the mobile web to grow a brand, improve sales, and increase profits is written for lay people and avoids jargon and programming concepts. Time- and money-saving solutions are presented, teaching technical novices how to quickly adapt their existing websites to the mobile ones and how to easily create mobile applications without having to learn to program. Step-by-step instructions stand alongside real-world examples of successful mobile-web transitions, and advice on best practices is provided to help business owners, entrepreneurs, marketing professionals, and creative professionals create the presence they need to help their business flourish.

You can watch more of her video tutorials at youtube.com/deltinahay.

Ms. Hay is noted for her dynamic presentations that focus on hands-on, do-it-yourself tools to truly make the Web a place where all voices can be heard and access should not be limited to those with large capital. She has presented on social media and Web 2.0 at such events as IBPA's Publishing University, the Publisher's Association of the South's Winter Conclave, the Writers' League of Texas' Editors and Agents Conference, the Pacific Northwest Bookseller's Association, and AuthorSmart.com, AuthorsAccess.com. Her graduate education includes applied mathematics, computer science, and psychology. She presently teaches the online graduate-level social media certificate course for Drury University.

Though a native Alaskan, Ms. Hay lives in Austin Texas with her two cats Wolfgang and Ludwig. She enjoys hiking in the surprisingly diverse Texas State Park system, and never complains about the heat.

Last year SmartPhones out sold PC's. Now, more people use mobile devices to access Facebook than PC's. Is your business ready for the mobile revolution? The Bootstrapper's Guide to the Mobile Web provides the information you need to gain an advantage over your competition and thrive in Web 3.0

This is the first "how to" book I have ever come across that offers something for everyone. If you're in IT and looking for mobile marketing information this is the book for you. On the other hand, if you're a marketer and/or business owner looking for tech information this is also the book for you.

Hay has brilliantly structured The Bootstrapper's Guide to the Mobile Web to offer in-depth explanations regarding the mobile web while also serving up a companion kick-start guide containing the bullet points and checklists you absolutely need to know in order to be successful.

Not only is Deltina Hay a well respected author and consultant, she is also an excellent teacher and it shows in her writing and the way she provides clear examples of each topic. The guide is chocked full of screen captures and QR code links to online videos that further illustrate and explain each area of discussion.

If you are in any way shape or form involved in marketing of any kind, this book is a must read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for Business and Social Entrepreneurs August 6, 2012
Format:Paperback
This is the second book I've ready by Deltina Hay (I also highly recommend "The Social Media Survival Guide" by her), and I think it's an excellent, easily digestible read for entrepreneurs of all sorts who need to understand and embrace the mobile web. She writes clearly because it's apparent she THINKS clearly, and wastes no time with theory, instead focusing on how real people, regular smart aggressive entrepreneurial people, can get on top of the most powerful business and social platform of all time. If you run something local, this is an ABSOLUTE must. If you're a media person of any kind, same deal. If you're in business or leadership in any way, this is too important a subject to be in the dark about. Well done.
