5.0 out of 5 stars Great Adult Read July 23, 2012
Format:Paperback
I loved this story, it's mystery and horror keeps you wanting more, it has a bit of every emotion in it. It's not what you think it is, it's better, I'm already reading the second one and this is a set that everyone who enjoys Horror, should own.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dive into The Box- You won't return the same September 5, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Any time I read a book about a box, or where there is a mystery box involved, I hope that the author is not tyring to recreate or ripoff Clive Barker's Hellraiser mythology. Thankfully, that is not the case here. Also, whenever I read a book about a box, I hope that Gwenyth Paltrow's head is not inside. On second though, I hope it is inside, because that means she will never make another movie again. (If you do not understand this reference, go see the move Seven. Now.) Alas, her head was not inside the box.

But I digress...

I will start off by saying, so there is no confusion, that I enjoyed this book and fully intend on reading the rest of the series. It is an easy 4 out of 5 stars, and would be 4.5 if that was an option

I read Brian Harmon's The Box over the course of a day or two. It started out a little slow, but, in my mind, the best horror stories always start out slow. If you jump into a story without proper world building, something important is always left out. Fortunately, it doesn't stay slow for long, as the mystery of the Box is quickly introduced. Now, I am a child of the eighties and nineties, and the first thing I was reminded of as the two main characters, Albert and Brandy, begin to explore the mystery of the box was the movie The Goonies (if you haven't seen The Goonies, go see it. Now). Though Albert and Brandy are older than the characters in the movie, and though there are only two characters at this point instead of six, this is what I felt. At its most basic, The Box is a story of two people blindly exploring a mysterious, creepy world introduced to them by the Box simply because it is human nature to want to understand and unravel the mysteries set before them.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Horrific Adult Adventure Mystery! November 4, 2011
Format:Paperback
A thoroughly enjoyable read. At turns horrific, mysterious, thrilling, and arousing, this book is an adult adventure that deserves more attention. Brian Harmon has a compelling voice and writing style that begs to have a wider readership.

Wih one part The da Vinci Code, one part Indiana Jones, and one part The Shining, shaken well and stirred, Horror, Fantasy, Mystery, and Thriller fans should all enjoy this offering. Now on to book two!

I loved it, I really did...i'm SERIOUSLY becoming a Brian Harmon addict. I got REALLY discouraged when the story seemed to round about and it GNAWED at me that it just seemed so...unfinished...but in the end I get why it was done that way since this IS a series..and it did its job, I got the next book so...good on ya Harmon, you got me!

Got this as a free Kindle book. Started reading and was instantly hooked. . . so much so that I ended up buying the rest of the series. I could NOT put this series down - I didn't want to do anything else until I knew how it turned out!

4.0 out of 5 stars Temple of puzzles April 19, 2013
By LS
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
For all out terror and gore without the gore this book is it. It's the pinnacle of creepiness. It draws you in with the fascination of the abomination. And, of course, since it's book one it answers nothing. If you're a King fan this might well be to your taste. Curiosity will keep you reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly Amazing March 28, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Do not start reading this book with preconceived notions about horror-suspense. You cannot neatly classify this book into one specific category. On the contrary, this story has a little bit of mystery, horror, adventure, even erotica. Which was my sticking point at first, because I bought this book in the thriller section.

Ahh fair readers, that was my first mistake, once I was passed that, I really enjoyed this story. It is HIGHLY original, and will keep you on the edge of your seat while biting your nails and turning pages. Don't try to guess where the story is going, you won't. Just sit tight and hang on for the ride. It's a great one.

Now...Off to buy the second book...
