Do you want to read an amazing book? Well you should read the Box Car Children. There are four young children and they are really poor. They do not have food. Then they do not know what to do. Well, they run away from their house because they thought their dad did not like them. They found a boxcar. So they thought that the boxcar might take them somewhere, but it didn't pull them. The father was trying to find them but they did not want to be found.

What I like is that when they try to find food and on their way they found a hound. I like that part because I like dogs and I think they're cute.

I recommend this book to other readers who are in 2nd grade or 3rd grade because it is just right.

My son is seven and I find that I am particular about what I let him watch and read. Because he is reading so well and still young, I feel hesitant about a lot of the books available. This is a set of books I don't feel the need to read every page to make sure it's appropriate. That makes this tired out mom very happy! This is an excellent series. These books are very engaging and draws young readers in. My son is good at reading but doesn't necessarily enjoy reading. It is very difficult for me to find books that he wants to read. He tells me these books are very "exciting". He absolutely loves each one. I was very happy with this set. It comes neatly packaged in a box (as pictured). I would only buy this as a set if you get them discounted off of the list price of each book. For me, it made sense because the price is less than purchasing the books as singles. I hope you enjoy!

We LOVE the Boxcar Children books. We were introduced to the first one through my daughter's kindergarten home school curriculum and they have been some of her favorites ever since. So far we have only read volumes written by Gertrude Chandler Warner (she wrote books 1 - 19), but have heard good things about many of the other volumes, also. GREAT read-alouds!

I recommend the series of Box Car Children books to all families. I read the first book when I was in 5th grade back in the 50's. My kids read them in the 70's, my granddaughters in the 90's and now my Greatgranddaughter is reading them. Have never heard anyone say anything bad about the books. They tug at your heart for years. All kids benefit from reading so I'd definitely say get these for your kids or grandkids.

I loved these books when I was a child. I remember doing book reports and even telling my friends about it. The Boxcar Children are courageous and the stories are well written and encourage the imagination of the reader. This series helped to cement my love of reading.

If your child loves the first four, the fun continues in the rest of the series.

I am a retired 3rd grade teacher. During my many years at that grade level we yearly purchased one or more classroom sets of The Boxcar Children. We used these instead of the standard reading books and developed lessons around their vocabulary and concepts. THE KIDS LOVED THE STORIES. We'd sometimes have to wait for another 3rd grade class (5 classrooms) to finish use of a set so it could be our turn. In those cases, I would read aloud from a story we did not have and develop lessons for that text. When my one and only grandchild was turning 6 I planned to get her the first 4 as part of her gift. Her mom, who had read some of the books I brought home from school, did not think that her daughter would enjoy them. "Their content is so outdated, she won't get into them." Grandma bought them anyway and gave them to her on July 31. When I was with her on the following Labor Day, she excitedly informed me that she had finished reading all 4 of them, and proceeded to tell me about her favorite episodes! Needless to say, I have continued to give her sets of these "old" stories from which today's kids can learn so much about ingenuous problem solving, cooperation, being a family, etc. The stories are timeless!

My eight year old daughter loves these books. The stories are in that Enid Bleyton genre of kids have jolly adventures. Safe, exciting fun.
