Book Description

June 21, 2011
In the Deep South a mentally disturbed Negro trying to forget his past and fleeing the law finds an injured white child alongside a country road. He helps the boy only to betray him. Kidnapping the boy, he must flee a sadistically insane father who loves his son – too much. As the boy, taught to have love he must surrender his body, comes to love him, the man fights the inevitable and his alter egos to fulfill a promise and save the boy. Enraged by his son’s betrayal, the father pursues the pair cross country, aided by the law. He is tailed by a young black deputy who wants only promotion and escape. When the chase goes beyond his jurisdiction the deputy finds himself driven to discover the mystery behind the boy’s abduction, and the truth behind the father’s twisted relationship with his son, finding himself caught between doing what is best for the child, or best for himself. FBI agents Frank and Tom, hands tied by procedure and pursuing personal agendas, unwittingly help the father. In order to rescue the boy they must break their own rules, only to find they have broken the biggest rule of all as they come to realize a successful conclusion of the case will lead to sick injustice. Enter the dark world and mind of an abused, sexually groomed child. Enter the mind of his sadistic, insane abuser. And enter the world of dissociative identity disorder, where one is many – and many can become one. A psychological crime thriller and touching love story steeped in horror and adventure, “The Boy” will transport you into sultry South where terror lays behind closed doors, and the corruption of the tight knit culture and clans of a Southern community. With well developed and evolving characters, this story is an emotional roller coaster ride that engages you on every level. Full of twists and turns and sudden surprises, this story offers insights into the effect of sexual abuse on a confused boy who wants only love. Thirty-plus years in the making, written from personal experience plus interviews with fellow child abuse survivors, this story is rich in symbolism and meaning. Many child abuse survivors will agree - “The Boy” is a powerful tale containing real life emotions and the effects of child abuse. For those brought up in a 'normal' world, it will open your eyes to the realities of child abuse and those who abuse them, as well as insights into the world of dissociative identity disorder and insanity. About the Author

JW is an adult childhood abuse survivor with DID. Born he grew up in a violent military family devoid of love and affection. Unable to find love at home, he found what seemed like love in the arms of a pedophile friend, who groomed him as a young lover. He still struggles with that past. On April 1, 2011 he and his 'others' finally managed to 'embrace themselves' with understanding, compassion, love and forgiveness. Like any family, there are problems - especially when one considers his 'family' consists of abused children, hurt and confused teens, and emotionally compromised adults. For in DID "one is many, and many can become one" - a symbol for all mankind. In 1976 JW began writing "The Boy" and he and five of his alters have been working off and on for 34 years completing it. JW resides somewhere in the deep South. He is disabled and living with family ... and his inner beings .... A portion of the net profits from the sale of this book will be going to benefit abused children.

I loved this! It is the emotional roller coaster the author promised with lots of ups and downs and twists and turns that will keep you guessing and getting it wrong. I recommend this to anyone who loves a good love story, suspense story, horror, psychological thriller, crime, angry, joy, happiness, hope, despair. It has a bit of everything and is so well written. But mostly it's a story of love, abuse and hope. It gave me some insights into child abuse and the mind of an abused child that I didn't have as well as some of the reasons a person might go on to abuse some child. The scenes are vividly real and perfectly choreographed without stepping over the line. For a Child abuse novel it's written quite tastefully. It's hard to believe this is fiction, it seems entirely much too real. At times it moved me to tears, and other times I was cheering them on, saying 'go get em!'. This book was recommended by a friend and by chapter 3 I was hooked so I bought one. I literally could NOT put it down. I was caught up in the story, deep in the South and these character's minds. The main characters caught my heart from the beginning and the boy tore my heart in two. This whole book did. Oddly enough towards the end I felt sorry for Mr. Thompson - a child molester and a horrible monster! To be able to stir sympathy for a man like this shows how well written the characters are. They are human beings. That goes to show how well JW writes his characters, how real they become, and how well written this book is. I really became attached to them. The writing has depth and strength and the descriptions are clear. JW covers a lot of ground both literally and figuratively. Corrupt Southern politic, racism, the good old boy sort of system, frailties of the law and morality issues.... Read more ›
