I can't believe I finished reading the book in one sitting. That's how riveting it was! I was moved to tears but it also made me smile. Brandon's story was intense but truly encouraging and inspirational --- a testimony of God's goodness and faithfulness (nothing is indeed impossible with God). I hope Brandon's story will be shared to inspire troubled youths and juvenile delinquents. Thank you, Brandon for sharing your story. You are truly an inspiration! God bless!:)

This is the first book I've finished this year. I've started several, but I usually get bored or move on to something more interesting. Stogsdill's story is a unique man-against-the-system fight for redemption. It's candid, authentic, and emotional. While I found his personal story compelling, I found his view into the traps of the welfare and penal system to be fascinating. He broke free from the cycle of violence, theft, and poverty. I love that he is using his experience to help serve those that are stuck in the cycle. This book was a great read, but I believe it would be helpful and inspirational to anyone caught up in negative patterns or risky behavior.

A great book and one that I have already re-read portions of a second time. A remarkable young man who has already accomplished amazing things. Have had the honor of meeting him and discussing his book, life then and now, and his story is one i reflect on in my personal and professional life almost daily now.

I found "The Boy With The Gun" to be powerful, riveting, and most of all, inspiring... Brandon's story is life changing and makes me want to be a better human being and educator. This book is a must read, especially for those who work with young people.

This is an incredible story of transformation and redemption. I was inspired by Brandon's need to help youth understand the choices they have and the consequences of their actions. Should be required reading for all middle school children.

Few books can legitimately claim the title "Inspirational," but Brandon Stogsdill's memoir is without a doubt one of them. This riveting read takes you from his harsh childhood in Parkland, Washington, to his felony conviction at age 17, through his personal, religious and intellectual transformation during 4 years of prison, up to his graduation from the University of Washington, and the start of his career as a youth counselor. Brandon is a remarkable human being, and he's also a gifted writer. Our world is lucky to have both Brandon and his powerful words.

In this memoir, Brandon conveys determination to 'change everything' about his life that led him to incarceration. Without realizing this, Brandon was using methods of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approach to transform the way he perceived the world and the people around him. This journey is truly an inspirational one, and I feel that many people could benefit from viewing the world the way he did, and witnessing the transformation in his writing.

This is an amazing book for anyone to read. It was hard for me to stop reading. Brandon is a true inspiration! It's an honor to know him. He gives hope to all, that anything is possible if you put your mind to it and to never give up on your dreams. Thank you so much Brandon for opening up your heart to the world.

Sincerely,
Brandie Owens
