Review

"Luca Rossi delves into time-travel fantasy with amazing success. From the first page you are drawn into this incredible world. It's a master-piece cover to cover. Luca can indeed create incredible fantasy worlds, people and realms. 'The Branches Of Time' has everything: imagination, intrigue, primal draw and sex appeal." - AuthorSpot
"Whether dark, light-hearted, sexy, mystic or magical, the writing flows easily and takes you smoothly through the story." Christoph Fischer - Top 500 Reviewer
"This novel is full of dark magic, cruelty, lust, despair and betrayal. I found it easy to read and it held my attention right to the end. It would appeal to those who like reading unpredictable mystical novels."Mes Livres
"Luca Rossi expertly engages the emotions throughout the several storylines presented in this book. The characters are well-drawn, with each having motivations, emotions, goals and ambitions of their own. Even when the story drifts away from these two primary groups, the emotions remain high and engaged. Luca Rossi presents a complicated series of events that cross time and space as the various actions and interactions of different individuals and groups create consequences for the others."Write on Wendy
"Character development is excellent. The author delves into time travel as a weapon, which is an interesting twist. There are many twists in the plot that Luca Rossi expertly deals with. It has more adult themes, and I would only recommend it for a mature audience." - Invincible Love of Reading
"The Branches of Time is a thrill ride of good and evil. Characters are well rounded, empathetic, colorful. Action is tense and for a fantasy novel, believable situations." - Samyann

Undoubtedly, the plot of this book is something to look forward to. It is multidimensional, dynamic with lots of flashbacks, and yet quite systematic and easy to follow through with excitement, anticipation and deep understanding of the human soul, desires and aspirations.
More specifically, the skill of portraying a whole world or a universe predominantly via the lives of only 3 people, that is, a tiny community and its unusual interactions with the outside world, seemed astounding indeed.
The book reads excellently as a fairy-tale, whereas, it could also be interpreted as a profound psychological story with symbolic and dystopian elements.
There is something in this narrative for each of us today, bearing in mind all our past, present and future, as well as the complicated process of interweaving among those variables, nicely represented as branches of a tree, in other words a live organism.
The fine contrast between intelligence and lower levels of existence, including pleasures for their own sake, is a thing to be appreciated as well.
I am grateful I have received a copy in exchange for an honest review and am frankly looking forward to the second volume.

Fantasy novels occupy a very small part of my favorite genres list. I enjoy reading a good one every once in a while and I'm a loyal reader of "Fantasy and Science Fiction Magazine." So, I looked forward to Luca Rossi's fantasy novel, to strong fantasy world-building, interesting characters with intriguing development, and an action-packed plot.

The first page grabbed me and promised a fulfillment of all my expectations. The first chapter raised more questions than it answered, urging me to read on. I looked forward to Lil's and Bashinoir's new life and struggles to survive.

It's very tricky to have a story with an ensemble cast, writing chapters from different characters' points of view. For the most part, Rossi pulls this off well. However, this approach to the story ends up diffusing conflict rather than intensifying it. For example, I wanted much more about the wizard Aldin, but we get only one chapter that explains nearly nothing, only establishing him as a player in the story.

So this was my main problem with this story -- it seemed to jump around from one character to another with no unifying conflict that involved all of them and served as the dramatic momentum to carry the reader through the story. It didn't help at all that this book ends suddenly and with a cliff-hanger. I would have liked to have more resolution in some of the characters' lives.

My other issue is King Beanor. This character really does very, very little to move the story forward, and his chapters in his POV focus on his sex addiction in explicit terms, stopping the momentum entirely. There's also a chapter of Bashinoir's that is sexual and also stops the momentum of the story.

A long time ago, a high school teacher of mine once told me that the best books are the ones that get you excited about something within the first minute of starting it.

Luca Rossi wastes no time in getting you sucked into the action, and I was hooked from the beginning.

The book is structured very well, and while you start out with the characters in a small segment of the world Rossi has created, the book quickly opens up to new characters, an interesting world, and a fun adventure that was enjoyable to read about.

I highly recommend this book for fans of the time travel genre.

I like stories about time travel, and this one was excellent. It was very different from others I have read. The plot is well thought out and very exciting. Made my brain work. I would recommend it!

A masterpiece of intertwining worlds and hypnotic mythologies. Torrid imagination and power of suggestion. I devoured it.

I think I can safely say this is a novel quite unlike anything else I have ever read. A mixture of sci-fi, fantasy, and erotica set around a catastrophic incident that opens the story and the resulting mystery. Rossi throws in a series of twists and turns and pushes the limits as the sci-fi genre allows you to. I have no doubt this book is going to be a major success in time, and the author with it.

I'm not really a sci-fi fan, but what led me to this book is the author's conception of eros, which is somehow similar to mine, even if from a different point of view. Enough burdened by prejudices, I began my read, and can honestly say that I was really seduced by every charac from the beginning. Their descriptions are very well made; sharp and clear but warm at the same time, I felt really empathic with them. The author plays with their lives like in a chess game, when a sudden move explains all the strategy behind the plot.

The Branches of Time opens with action from the first page and it doesn't let up. A cursed island ... a terrible king ... time travel ... and wizards who are messing in arcane forces better left alone. A bunch of the action is racy, so it's not for kids. But it really adds to the intrigue, as EVERYBODY has more than one agenda, whether it's in the bottom of a wizard's cauldron or between the sheets. This isn't a long book, so it's perfect "airplane fodder" as I call the books I like to read while flying. I can't wait to see where the next installment takes us.
