About the Author

Hajj E. Flemings is a dynamic, energetic speaker and author that connects with his audience to inspire and challenge them to reach their hidden potential. Hajj, a former collegiate basketball player, accomplished his lifelong dream of designing footwear with his design of the equator cross-trainer sneaker for Mavade Footwear. He graduated from Michigan Technological University with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and later attained his MBA from Lawrence Technological University.

With a wealth of experience in product development and account management through New Balance, DaimlerChrysler, and Ford, Hajj has translated his experiences into greater business opportunities and has started two companies, Broken Chains Design Group (BCDG) and The Brand YU Life. BCDG's clients includes Skechers Footwear, Lear Corporation, and various colleges and universities. BCDG's advertising and design work has been featured in GQ, Men's Health, Details, and Slam magazines. Hajj currently travels as a motivational speaker and conducts seminars and workshops, speaking to organizations on brand management, leadership, and success. He also teaches personal brand management at his alma mater, Michigan Technological University, where he serves as an Adjunct Lecturer. He resides in Michigan with his wife Kasandra.

Format: Paperback
I received this book on a Saturday morning and completed it the same day. It has the types of eye opening insights that I have only seen in books like John Maxwell's "Your Roadmap for Success" and TD Jakes' "Maximize the Moment". It put into words thoughts that I had only felt and it is affirming to know there are other young men who have a genuine desire to empower others. The insights are transformational and I highly recommend "The Brand YU Life" to anyone who is committed to sharing their dreams with the rest of the world.

The Brand Yu Life is a passionate account of personal branding, where the author mixes case studies, quotes, compelling graphics and workbook elements to help you discover your calling in life and build your personal brand.

I especially liked the parallels between products and individuals, since they help you understand how you can apply branding principles from the corporate world into your own personal life. I also give the author credit for incorporating elements of personal finance and character building into the personal branding equation, something that other authors often overlook.

The main idea of this book is that personal branding is not about projecting a superficial image created for public consumption, but rather a holistic exercise where you first need to discover your passion and know yourself. Once you do that, you'll be able to build an authentic and sustainable brand, and you'll be ready to share it with the world.

I am not a person that goes for a lot of self help material, but I had such a bad run for the past year. I picked up "Brand Yu" and this was all I needed to get not just motivation but the coaching that I so needed. It is a reallitively quick read, but I found that using it more as a reference I was and am able to draw the most out of the book. So if you have read it great. Now, pick it up again and absorb it gradually. You will change.

It was a little tricky getting a copy (out of production) but well worth the wait. The Brand Yu Life is an excellent book! The flow of the book is extremely unique with the black and white layout and photos throughout. This is what Hajj E. Flemings means when he teaches on how to effectively and uniquely brand yourself. I totally disagree with the prior two star review of this book. I thought the photos enhanced the message and also transitioned points well. To me it was easy to understand, if you payed attention and understood Mr. Flemings perspective on branding. Especially towards the end of the book, the photos pumped you up to go out and start The Brand YU Life!

Mr. Flemings does a great job on giving solutions on how you can personally differentiate and brand yourself too. Even going as far to say, your autograph should be a branding tool as well. Also creating a mission statement was awesome too! I followed this piece of advice immediately. Will follow through on everything advised. Plenty of exellent advice, extremely interesting and unique book. Never wanted to put down. Thank you Mr. Flemings for having the courage to be different and providing this awesome read! I would fully recommend The Brand YU Life to everyone who desires to effectively market and brand themselves or business!!! Get this book!!!
