I recently purchased this book for a friend of mine who has been diagnosed with breast cancer. I purchased it after she had her first chemo. Both she and her husband had said there were already things they had forgotten from earlier doctors appointments. She immediately grabbed the book and started journaling in it. She has had three rounds of chemo now and still has a long road ahead of her but this book never leaves her side. She takes it with her everywhere. I would have asked her to write her own review but she has a little too much on her mind right now. I think if she were to sum up this book she would say that it has been invaluable to her . . . a godsend. So in behalf of anyone newly diagnosed with breast cancer I would whole heartedly recommend this book. I know it has made a huge difference in the way my friend has been able to handle everything that it happening in her life right now. If I won the lottery I would buy up all the available copies of this book and give them to anyone newly diagnosed with breast cancer. I think it is really an indispenable companion for any woman beginning this journey. If I could give it more than 5 stars I would.

This is the ideal book for any new breast cancer patient. It provides just enough information regarding every topic you need to understand without being overwhelming. There are countless links to resources where someone can turn when they need to dive deeper. The ability to have all this information, along with space to take important notes, track progress/schedules/medications, and to jot down key questions is awesome! My husband WISHES he had something like this when he went through his prostate cancer experience. Well done!!

The book is a mine of information for the newly diagnosed breast cancer patient.Written in plain language it is a bible to help a woman chart her course from diagnosis through treatment and beyond. And if there should be a problem with medical terms, why there is a glossary to help her over that hurdle. I think you have thought of every eventuality and are to be congratulated.

Having gone through the breast cancer experience, i can honestly say that this book can guide one through what will probably be the scariest time of your life. I only wish it had been available for me. Step by step, Nancy and Valerie explain terms relating to diagnosis as well as treatments; give you a place to gather all your pertinent information so that you will always have it on hand and most of all give you tips from survivors. One of the most helpful things i did was to join a support group. The information i gathered from fellow survivors was invaluable in my own journey. This book will fit in your purse and you will never want to be without it.

Just received a copy of The Breast Cancer Companion and it looks fantastic! You all must be so proud of this wonderful publication. I only wish something like this had been available when I was first diagnosed. It certainly would have greatly reduced the number of files that I managed to collect. It really is a gift of compassion and a fabulous resource. I plan to transcribe all my notes, post its and files into this journal. Thank you from all of us who have battled this disease. Anything which makes the process a little easier to manage, goes a long way in expediting both ones physical and mental well being.

I purchased this book for a good friend of mine who has just been diagnosted with breat cancer. I read and gone through it with her and I am sure she will use it often because of the way it is done. It is an excellent companion book for cancer patients and I strongly recommend it.

This book is a must for anyone diagnosed with Breast Cancer. My advice is to purchase it as soon as you are diagnosed! The book is informational, allows one to keep everything in order and always handy for reference during the many appointments. From surgery, through chemo and now on the homestretch with reconstruction I refer to the book as my "brain". The journey gets confusing but with this book you can organize your personal information and have it at your fingertips!
I tell everyone about this gem of a book in the journey through breast cancer. Many thanks to the authors!

I was just told I have breast cancer. I checked out this book at the library, read the first chapter and got online to order it right away. I KNEW I was going to need it and I really do. At the surgeon's office the other day, they gave me a "gift bag" full of books and information. I don't even need to read it; I bought this book and read it cover to cover! It tells you EVERYTHING! Even the questions you need to ask and what to do when you get the answers you don't want to hear.

Although I don't want breast cancer as my companion, the content of the book includes many forms for recording medical history, schedules, contacts, test results - everything involved with organizing the abundance of materials and information the patient needs to keep track of. There are also lists of questions to ask health
personnel and others. .Very helpful for managing all the details that come along with this journey.

What a very helpful book. I had so many questions after being diagnosed with breast cancer. This book had many helpful tips how to organize your life as it turns upside down. Questions answered that I hadn't even though of yet. All in all, I would recommend this book.
