Born and raised in Minnesota, Lisa Maddock has enjoyed creative writing for as long as she can remember. Writing a children's book seemed a natural thing to do, as her young daughter Allison grew to love books more and more. Reading countless middle-grade stories with Allison, combined with watching antics of family guinea pigs, Maggie and Peanut, became the inspiration for her first book, "A Tale of Two Guinea Pigs", starring the squeaky, spunky stars, Teddy and Pip.
There are now four Teddy and Pip stories. Check out The Bridezilla Who Stole Christmas, The Trouble With Max, and, new in 2013 - Nubb Trouble! Visit the website: www.teddyandpip.com for fun and games, to join the Best Friends Club and for signed copies of Lisa's books!
Taking a detour from guinea pig antics, Lisa has recently completed a teen novel - for 12 to 18 year old girls - called Silver Linings.
Lisa Maddock lives in Shakopee, Minnesota, which is a suburb of Minneapolis, with husband, Bill, and daughter Allison, who is now 15 1/2.
The Bridezilla Who Stole Christmas by Lisa A. Maddock
This is the second of the Teddy and Pip stories. Teddy and Pip are guinea pigs who talk. The story is the tale of how Teddy and Pip influence Amelia & Wally's (their owners) wedding. The tale is related by Molly their neighbor and friend.
This was a really cute story. Not to be ever repeated but the guinea pigs reactions to their being ignored reminded me somewhat of a 3 year old who is near and dear to my heart. Molly's perspective seemed realistic for a 9 year old. The guinea pigs behavior just made me laugh, sometimes out loud. I have seen people bullied by their pets so Teddy and Pip's behavior was all that far fetched. This book should make your child laugh out loud.
"The Bridezilla Who Stole Christmas" by Lisa Maddock is an entertaining story centered on a wedding, Christmas and a mystery. With the wedding of Amelia and Wally up in the air, the distinct absence of Christmas and some mysterious phone calls it looks like a disaster is looming. However, Molly Jane Fisher is the nine-year old super sleuth that eventually solves the puzzle but not before getting an earful of funny commentary from Teddy and Pip, two talking guinea pigs who will NOT be ignored.
If you've ever had a pet and wondered what it would be like if they could talk, you might think again after reading some of the trying moments that Molly Jane has to endure with these two. Their opinions on Christmas, from customs to songs, will at least get you smiling if not downright laughing.
An enjoyable holiday tale for all-especially animal lovers! Oh, and if you happen to have a pet guinea pig, better hide your cell phone!
The Bridezilla Who Stole Christmas is a wonderful holiday 'treat' for anyone who loves Christmas, or who has ever shared their life with a furry friend. It combines a mystery (just what IS going on with Ameila and the 'might not happen' wedding?!?) with lots of heart-warming holiday cheer. The result is a story that will leave you with a smile on your face, and a new appreciation for household pets!
Children especially will love seeing Christmas through the perspective of Pip and Teddy, the 2 guinea pigs at the center of the tale. Their interpretations of everything from the manger scene to the classic poem "The Night Before Christmas" are hysterical! The Bridezilla Who Stole Christmas is sure to leave you with a big smile!
PS - This would also make a great Wedding Shower gift for a bride-to-be!
It is funny, adorable and well written mystery book for children! I very much enjoyed reading it and discovering the secret about a cancelled wedding and a universally known truth that all things in the human world go much smoother when guinea pigs get involved. At the heart of this mystery is a nine year old girl Molly and two charming talking guinea pigs Pip and Teddy. In my opinion this book is a "must have" for all children with guinea pig pets and maybe even for busy adults like me who would love to have a couple of talking guinea pigs to chat with over a daily cup of tea, but first need to buy a machine for extending the amount of hours in a day from 24 to infinity, so I can join Pip and Teddy for a happy singing hour... I know, the last part of my review does not make any sense, but reading this book just makes me happy, so Merry Christmas, Peace on Earth, and Pip and Teddy to everyone!
