About the Author

Barney Stinson is awesome. He works for a powerful bank in New York City but somehow finds time to “suit up” and help the less fortunate, in particular his lovelorn and all together pathetic bro Ted Mosby—seriously, that dude’s got probs. When Barney’s not staging private bikini calendar shoots, test-driving tanks, or elbow-deep in another legendary activity, like riding a tiger bareback or blowing up a guitar, he can be seen on the hit CBS show How I Met Your Mother with his friends Ted, Robin, Lily, and Marshall.

You know.... There are books that are supposed to help you learn something, then there are books that are fun. This one is pure fun!

Written with the Barney Stintson style, it lists rules for men hanging out with dudes to live by in a funny way. A typical page is one sentence long. Some pages have examples and diagrams that add to the experience.

Why buy this book?
- 1. You are a man, and don't understand the essentials of how to treat your bros
- 2. You want to laugh
- 3. You don't really want to admit that you like reading
- 4. You're a woman, and you want to rip on guys and/or understand men better

Why should you not buy this book?
- 1. You are easily offended
- 2. You are sexist
- 3. You are too old to appreciate the single guy humor
- 4. You are a speed reader - in which case you should have already read it in the store

This book isn't some quick, half-hearted cash-in for How I Met Your Mother Fans, it's basically Barney Stinson in paperback form. The Bro Code is hilarious. If you're a fan of the show you'll likely hear Neil Patrick Harris' voice in your head as you read the book cover-to-cover. With diagrams, footnotes, and over 150 "codes" written by the show's writers, this is a can't miss book.

This book embodies what it means to be a bro, how to act like a bro, and even proper punishment for violation of bro code. Besides countless laughs this book does in fact set a good standard for bro's to follow

If you watch How I Meet Your Mother then this is a funny companion. I was a little disappointed that there really wasn't anything new that was added. The majority of the codes are just a re-hash of what was in the show. The explanations of the some of the codes are really funny.

I would have liked things that were not on the show in the book.

This is the first, and to my knowledge, only, reference guide to conduct that applies exclusively to bros and their conduct with each other.

It is being hailed as a "wonderful work of satire", and "great for fans of the show." I am glad that the curators of this tome have found success for connoisseurs of parody and situational comedy. While this may be valid, this work is, in fact, a definitive source of guidance on how one interacts and behaves with, in regards to, and around, his bros. As such, it should be treated with reverence and honor. Any humor to be found within is usually found from situational references, either from this "How I Met Your Mother" series (I may have to watch it, someday...), but more likely from one's own history with his (or her) bros.

I have used this guide as a reference to dictate actions in no less than two critical bro-related situations, and it has helped me to maintain my bro-status among my bros. While there is nothing saying I would not have made the same decision without The Bro Code, it provides me a set of rules to reference in times of doubt, or at least to help justify my position.

While not discussed directly in The Bro Code, I believe that bro-type behavior should not be used exclusively with one's bros. Rather, brohavior should be practiced in most areas of life and relationships. To that end, I have provided copies to all my bros, to help guide them in their decision making. I even provided copies to my supervisor and my brother-in-law, even though I would not technically call them bros.

In truth, this work applies to all walks of life. While it is geared specifically for bros and bro culture, it centers around the theory of "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

I bought this book because I am a fan of this show. This book has a unique edge to it and some quirky humor. I realize some of these jokes people may find offensive, but they're not to be taken so seriously. I had a lot of fun reading this, and I'll have to say, this book was wait for it…legendary from cover to cover. The physical state it came in was good, with a crease here and there, but I DID buy a used copy. I'm sure it'll be perfect if you get a new one. Otherwise, this is a very nice book and I hope everyone who buys this will laugh as much as I did.

I purchased this book out of pure fun, however I have found that some people take this book a little too seriously. It is purely comical in nature. Please do NOT attempt ANY of the advice in those pages. It is more slapstick comedy rather than sarcasm and wit, although it makes for an excellent ice breaker if you are on a first date if you know she/he watches HIMYM.

The Bro Code, as an audio book, is a brilliant thing, indeed. The writing itself is clever and very HIMYM, or--to be more specific--very Barney. Not only does Matt Kuhn (er, Barney) supply readers with ample material to laugh at and enjoy, he also rewards loyal fans with references to things that have occurred throughout the series' colorful seasons. Furthermore, he had me picturing the characters in an array of hilarious new situations that could arise from the ideas presented in The Code. I read the book first and the narration by Neil Patrick Harris makes the many articles of The Code jump off the page. He manages to bring Barney's personality very convincingly to life through voice alone. I would recommend this audio book to all who are fans of the show or simply wish to have a good laugh.
