I just happened to talk with an ex-FBI agent recently, and it reminded me of this show. I even recommended this to the agent as must-see TV.

Sure, not every episode is a winner, but the vast majority of them are riveting. In particular for me, there was a case that was featured fairly recently that takes place in the exact town which I now live, not surprising I suppose since there are so many criminals in California. At any rate, a young girl who was kidnapped and later rescued by the FBI appears to have been abducted by a possible serial killer; according to the papers it is still an ongoing investigation after a decade. Either way, she is very lucky to still be alive, giving her own account on the episode.

In general, you would probably call this show a documentary, and it uses reenactments of a crime or a series of crimes, and it bounces back and forth between the perspectives of the criminals and the FBI agents. Naturally, it is always a race against the clock to save someone, as FBI cases tend to be. So that in itself always keeps this show moving.

From reading true crime, I do know that it is often the case that local police departments aren't too happy when the FBI gets involved; and that is putting it mildly. Supposedly, locals think that the FBI is stepping on their toes and taking their glory. And I suppose locals view it as an insult since they interpret it as follows: "Well, I guess the FBI thinks that we can't solve the crimes ourselves." But since I've never been on either side, I suppose I can see both sides of the argument on this one. I do think that I'd always be happy to have an extra helping hand whenever possible, especially since most cops seem to complain that they're always overworked and underpaid.

I'll give a strong recommendation on this show, unless you're one of the bad guys. In that case, you probably won't be all too happy yourself watching one of your brethren get taken down on this show.

Great stories and even better acting. Production value is high quality. This is better than most re-telling shows and worth seeing. I particularily liked episode 4 entitled 'Black Widow.'
