The written parts are the same as the older and original, but the most importatnt part is missing--no pictures. It is very difficult to have a bird identification book without pictures. Very disappointing.

This book contains many wonderful facts about all different kinds of birds and teaches about bird orders and families. Here are some things I learned from reading this book:

1.Both male and female Northern Cardinals can sing.

2.Hummingbirds are good fighters, despite their small size. They use their long, sharp bills to stab oher birds while fighting.

3.Grouse can lay over 15 eggs in one clutch.

4.During the winter, Chickadees find some of their food by gleaning tiny insect eggs from underneath tree branches.

5. Brown Thrashers are closely related to Catbirds and Mockingbirds, but unlike their relatives Thrashers don't imitate other birds.

This is a great book for those who love birds and want to know more about them. It is also appropriate for younger children. I highly recommend his book!

This book is a rare treasure, a simple, yet interesting story that teaches children about animals, their habitats, and their relationships in nature. I have my children draw pictures while I read aloud.

I would give this book 5 stars if it had pictures. I recommend this book to parents who want their young children to know about the real animal world by telling a cute story from Peter Rabbit's point of view. "Bird" book is a little misleading.

I owned this book as a child and it had beautiful photos in it of the birds. Sadly the book got left behind in a move many years ago. This book is the same text but is not quite the same without the photos. However, it is certainly worth a read. I think I'll download some bird photos from the internet when I read this to my grandchild.

The Burgess Bird book for Children is a great book about birds ( what else?) I learned lots of stuff about birds that I never knew before. This book is told through the eyes of Peter rabbit, as he discovers things he never knew before. I would pay $5 for this book, but lucky me, it's FREE! you should get it for your kindle

My children love birds and notice them and identify them every where we go. This book, incorporates a tremendous amount of information concerning birds, into a story that is quite entertaining for children. Consequently, children are able to learn a lot about birds without even realizing their learning.

I loved this book when I was a child ans was delighted to find it on Kindle. the stories bring all the birds and their habits to life. However, I could only give it 4 stars as it doesn't include the wonderful full color plates that were in my physical book.

Meh. I don't know what it is, the kids and I just couldn't get into it. It seems to take the author a lot of words to make a point. Not our favorite. Our favorite would be Fifty Famous Stories Retold. It's also on Kindle. Now that's a great read!
