Jerry Bowyer confronts the critics and offers clear and convincing evidence that the Bush Administration fixed a broken economy, boosting the fastest economic turnaround since President Ronald Regan.

Editorial Reviews

Review

Bowyer's book is a sorely needed dose of simple economic truth that things aren't as bad as the media says. -- Donald Luskin, National Review Online Financial

People complain about information overload. The trick is to know what data to understand. Bowyer can help you do this. -- Brian S. Wesbury, Chief Economist for Griffin, Kubik, Stephens & Thompson, Inc.

Readers will have to re examine their own assumptions to contend with Bowyer’s mind-cleaning exercise. -- Reuven Brenner, Faculty of Management, McGill University, and author of The Force of Finance

Those who wish to debate economic policy on the basis of facts rather than opinion will find this book indispensable. -- Richard W. Rahn, Chairman of Novecon Financial and a senior fellow at the Discovery Institute

From the Publisher

Jerry Bowyer's fascinating book is endorsed by Steve Forbes, with a foreword by Larry Kudlow of CNBC. Forbes says, "Timely book of incisive data, enriched insights about our getting-better economy." If you like books by conservative authors Ann Coulter, Michael Savage, Mona Cheran, and Gary Aldrich, you'll love Jerry Bowyer.

1.0 out of 5 stars 2+2=5 October 23, 2003
Format:Paperback
This book has a very interesting premise, which is that common sense and experienced reality are both false. Many, many Americans, from the working poor to the middle class, are experiencing economic distress, smaller paychecks, higher college costs, and uncertain employment prospects. Average Americans, Joe Sixpacks, do not see a good economic picture.

Bowyer and Kudlow, however, would have us ignore all of this and try to convince us that Bush's policies, which have failed to yield solid results by any standard economic measures, have actually already produced a boom. They use very convoluted and hard-to-follow arguments, with very little reflection of fact, to try to convince the reader that Bush is an economic genius.

As a serious study of current political economy, this book is a joke. As an example of the total disconnection of conservatives with basic human reality, however, it is a tour de force.

I think that "delusional" is too kind here. There has indeed been a Bush boom, but it has been confined to the small group already the best off in American society. As he heads on to have a net loss in jobs during his term, as his ill-conceived adventure in Iraq allows bin Laden to go free and inflames hatred for America, and as his domestic policies erode forty years of bipartisan progress Bush has created a "boom" indeed--unfortunately, it is the "boom" of the economy and security of America imploding.

5.0 out of 5 stars Through the Looking Glass October 24, 2003
By Alice
Format:Paperback
Finally! A book that proves the existence of an alternate universe. Obviously, a rip in the space/time continuum between this universe and the other universe where Bush is presiding over a 'boom economy opened up and this book fell through. Can there be ANY other explanation?

I absolutely loved this book. As a work of purest fiction it is the prototype for all future spin and double speak from cover to cover.

1.0 out of 5 stars A satire, surely, but not a good one
It details in all but the worst satire how awful a job Bush has done with the economy. It's like they weren't even trying.
