First, allow me to say that the only reason that I'm not giving this book a five star rating is because of the "Kindle Version." The Kindle version is horribly edited with quotation marks used for apostrophes, a few missing spaces between words, and a few extra spaces thrown in here and there. The editing isn't enough to make the reading difficult, but it is frustrating to continually see these errors. I hope that a future Kindle update will allow a reader to mark errors for review and correction.

Last night I finished reading The Cabin. To be honest the first few pages were somewhat boring to me. Though Mr. Setterlund writes in a fashion that allows for a vivid mental image I thought that the build-up to Will Frank's "vacation" was a bit too long. After the scene is set the main character, Will Frank, departs for his vacation. At this point the reader is in for a very interesting ride.

I won't ruin the story for you, but I will say that Mr. Setterlund's writing style put me in the cabin as Will Frank was terrorized by the mysterious creature. I could feel the tension in my chest as Will Frank described the terrifying screams and wailing in the middle of the night which preceeded the physical attack on the cabin.

The ending of this story was an unexpected twist. I think Mr. Setterlund knows exactly what the reader would be expecting, but the answer to the mystery hit me out of left field; I never saw it coming. I honestly hope that this story will be considered for a movie one day.

This was an excellent book Mr. Sutterlund. I hope to read more of your work in the future. Great job!

Way too much time was spent at the beginning of the book - honestly didn't think he would ever get to the cabin. But this part of the book was not as aggravating as when the 'monster' enters the story.

Okay, I can understand hiding in a closet on night 1. I get it. But come on, the second night and then the third, too?? Really? I'm a woman and even I would have come up with at least a plan, albeit a lame one probably, but at least I would be trying to come up with some other plan than hiding in a stupid closet & using a tube sock to tie the door knobs together. Again, really??

Then, the character finds a hiding spot in a pinch (dock) but instead of using it again to foil the 'monster', he hides an already dead body because he's afraid of being accused of murder. Okay, by this time in the story I was actually HOPING the main character would die.

And boy was I ticked off at the ending regarding Dale. Stupid. Totally stupid. But two stars for trying. If the main character had actually come up with a reasonable plan (or at least tried), I would've let the ending slide, and I would've given at least 4 stars.

? I don't know where to start! I liked the main character and the premise wasn't bad, but I felt I was reading one of my Nephews high school writing assignments (he didn't graduate).It needed more build up, terror, fear; not hiding in the closet remembering childhood moments with the family. The character basically just sat on his #@^* when a creature from Hell was on a nightly rampage - I would think after night one, he might start thinking about a plan for survival...

This book could have been written by a first grader. I guessed exactly what was to happen the moment he arrived at the cabin. The way it's written and the dialogue is an embaressment to anyone that would even think of calling themselves an author. Save your three dollars and please dont buy!!!

Great story told by the author in such a way that it grabs and holds your interest right out of the gate. His descriptive style of writing paints such clear and vivid pictures of the characters and their surroundings that you feel you are right there with them. I found the story so compelling that I could not stop reading until I found out what happened.
