The islanders modeled after all the great Grand Ol' Opry back then.

Great new take on the classic country sound. Makes me think I'm in an old country tavern drinking Premium. The brothers that leader this band have great voices, reminiscent of Hank Williams Sr. They also have seasoned players in their band. The pedal-steel player is Randy Broughten, of Trailer Trash and the Gear Daddies. Their fiddler is Mark "Razz" Russell has played with Joe Henry and Mark Olson of the Jayhawks. The bassist is Liz Draper, who has played in Black Blondie and currently Lucy Michelle's Velvet Lapelles. Give them a try, you will not be disappointed.

This is the sound of Country Music that I remember growing up in the '50's and early '60's. Staying up late with my dad listening to the Grand Old Opera on the radio. Great memories are brought back to life while listening to these songs. The style, the words, the melodies and harmonies. This is how Country music used to be. Thank you Cactus Blossoms!

These guys will go far and have a lot to offer.

I bought this album/cd directly from the band. It is absolutely awesome. Bob Harris of the BBC (BBC2) seemed to like it, too.

They are adept at playing old standards from the early days of country music (Louvin Brothers, Hank Williams), as well as writing new, poignant, sad and heartwarming songs. They can play, sing, and write with the best of the old timers.

They are the real thing. If you like blue grass, old-time country, or even eclectic folk music, you must give these Minnesota brothers a try. Garrison Keillor gave them an try or two on a Prairie Home Companion, and he didn't regret it.

Surfing the web one late night (when I should have been studying) I came across a site that had live bands play. Saw the first guy IN AWE. Then came the Cactus Blossoms. WOW! PHENOMENAL TO SAY THE LEAST! OLD SOULS! Melodies and harmonies that seem to FLOW EFFORTLESSLY together. YAYY! OLD TIMEY!

My soul yearns for this. Reminds me of my parents when they would play the old music from the South Pacific Islands. The guitars were brought to the islands and soon the islanders developed the slack key. My Dad would play the dickens out of an acoustic. The islanders modeled after all the great Grand Ol' Opry back then. THANK YOU GENTLEMEN! Thank you! As my friends from the south would say, "Old Timey!"
I have never been to concert in my life, but this I need to hear live, is going to be my top priority. My brothers and sisters all tear up when they hear you guys. God Bless!
