"Lily Graison adds a few interesting twists to werewolf lore while still staying true to the main wolfish traits...The story has everything that I look for in a good shifter read: pack hierarchy, life mates and gruesome battles....Needless to say, I LOVED this book!" Carmel at Rabid Reads

“This is a very exciting story. The action starts on the very first page and does not stop until the very end... The plot was very well crafted and the author built the suspense until I just could not take any more and then cranked it up just a little bit more." Maura t Coffee Time Romance

Overview:

In a world where the supernatural isn’t supposed to exist, one woman comes face to face with the monsters and fights to survive their call.

Investigative reporter Rayna Ford is sent to the small community of Wolf’s Creek to write an expose on a town supposedly over run with werewolves. Assuming the inhabitants to be under a mass delusion, she learns quickly that all isn’t as it seems. Their plans involve more than a newspaper article and her life hangs in the balance as their motive for luring her to them is revealed.

Garrett Kincaid knows a thing or two about werewolves. He is one. After leaving his pack, he’s spent the last twelve years pretending to be something he isn’t. His closely guarded secret threatens to destroy him when he meets Rayna Ford, the woman his wolf has claimed as his own. When he learns the pack has lured Rayna to them in order to get to him, he races to Wolf’s Creek to protect her from the very thing he fears the most. Himself.

The power struggle within the pack becomes clear once Garrett reaches his old home and learns of the pack’s plans for Rayna. The beast lurking beneath his skin is torn between protecting the woman he wants to call mate and keeping the balance within the pack on neutral ground. When choosing a side no longer matters, he does what he must to save his mate, even if that means making one of the most difficult decisions of his life.

When the stakes are high, and lives hang in the balance, can you ignore life as you know it to answer... The Calling.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing!!, April 14, 2011
By
Kim Dufoulon (Northern Ireland) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Calling (Night Breeds) (Kindle Edition)
Rayna is a reporter and just as the female body count starts to build in the city she gets called off to investigate some weird goings-on in a near by mountain town. For months she has been receiving strange letters and photographs of alleged Werewolf sitings and has fobbed them off as fake, but when her newsroom partner takes on the case she has no choice than to follow him up there. On arriving in the aptly named Wolfs Creek Rayna and Mitch start to regret their decision to check the place out when their world gets turned up-side down. As things get worse, and some majorly messed up Shifter plans are revealed, Rayna fears she may never see home again, until her ex-lover Garrett makes an appearance and tries to help her escape. But as even more secrets are revealed will she leave with her so called saviour or take her chances with the crazed wolves? I have to say that I really like this character. She's stubborn, feisty, and even though she's scared shitless through most of the book, Rayna is one strong chic.

Garrett left home twelve years ago and has been policing Bluffs Point ever since. On the night he meets Rayan Ford his life is changed forever, because he has finally found the mate he can never have. After a difficult relationship Garrett does the only thing he can do to keep her safe, he pushes her away, but unable to remove her from his life permanently he watches Rayna from afar. When local women start to turn up dead he connects the dots and fears that a Werewolf has set their sights on Rayna. When he discovers that she has run off to Wolfs Creek with Mitch his suspicions are confirmed, and Garrett goes to save her from death at the hands of his kin. I love this man, he's yummy as heel and the protective, possessive thing he has going on drives me a little wild. Grr... but he is also really considerate and a little vulnerable when it comes to Rayna and how she will react to his wolf.

I loved this book, so much action, suspense, betrayal, fear and love. With a little emotional turmoil to boot... it's great!! There are so many amazing characters in this book, from the hero and heroine to the two crazed Werewolves, Malcolm and Carmen, who want to out the wolves along with the other Night Breed members, like Sabriel. Grr... I'll be wanting to see more of that sexy vamp in the future... lol. There are so many great scenes in this book, most of them centered around the fights scenes and the sifting. I love the Werewolves and the way Lily describes their changes is amazing. I can totally see them going from beautiful young people to half wolf beings, I can even hear their skin move and their bones crack in my head... disturbing I know, but it's great. And the fight Garrett had with Malcolm and the rest of the pack at the end of the book had me at the end of my seat. I love it!!

Another thing I loved was Garrett and Rayna's relationship, their courting period in the book if you will. This romance isn't all sunshine and roses, it's dark and has got monsters in it. Real monsters. I mean our hero is sexy as hell and I love him, but he's still a monster when the wolf takes over. There's none of that nonsense where he stays all perfect and handsome even when he's a wolf - do you know what I'm trying to say here or have I totally lost you all... lol. Anywho, apart from the scary my-boyfriends-a-werewolf thing, these two have some fierce love for each other. Garrett and his Wolf are so possessive of their mate, the way he craves Rayan is hot! He loves her so goddamn much that it's hard not to crave a little some some for yourself... lol. And of course, even though she aint a Wolf, Rayna feels as strongly for Garrett. I swear the love scenes between these two are steamy as hell, especially when Rayna provokes Garrett into mating with her - not that he needed much provoking, but still. Grr... *fans self*

Like I said, this is a great read. So run along my darlings and buy a copy to see for yourselves.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book Start to Finish!, December 13, 2010

This review is from: The Calling (Night Breeds) (Kindle Edition)
I always like it when I find a book that keeps my interest from beginning to end. And this book did exactly that, I couldn't put it down. Rayna Ford is a reporter just looking for a good story. She also has an ex-boyfriend Garrett Kincaid, who is a cop, that she still has the hots for, but he wants nothing do with her....so he says. His reasons end up drawing Rayna into world she didn't know existed. A world full of werewolves...werewolves who want Rayna to expose them to the public.....but at what cost? And where does Garrett fit into all this? This book had plenty of romance, action, sex, and humor to keep me glued throughout the whole book. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in this series....if its anything like the first, I'll be up all night reading it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not so good., June 4, 2011

This review is from: The Calling (Night Breeds) (Kindle Edition)
The story started well and it was interesting when I read the banter the few pages...but that is where
it ended..

Unlike what I read about the heroin's strength, she completely suffered from the lack of it.
The hero, treated her like crap which he admits and she knows, she still lets him.

No back bone, no self respect. I really dislike women who let to be treated that way.

And when authors and editors are going to learn when to use adjectives and when to use adverbs?
When you are publishing books at least do it right.
