I bought this book of short stories for a gift, but I did sneak and read one of the shorter stories. I liked the style and plotting of the story.
If all are as good as this story I think my sister for whom the book was given will like it. She is a deep Trollope fan as well as a major in English Literature. I had never heard of V. S. Pritchett but then I'm no English Lit scholar. Books to me are kind of like art. What appeals to you is what you like. Pritchett has an extensive American background having taught at Princeton, Berkely, and Smith.

Well worth the cost of the 1st Ed, 1st printing I got.
