Book Description

Life was not easy for Forensic Investigator Bill Walters. His ability to see the spirits of the victims at his crime scenes gave him an edge, but it kept him isolated from his fellow Officers and gave him the reputation of being a 'Nutbar' on the force.
Bill could live with this. He could even live with the family of ghosts that haunted his apartment, the loss of his friends and religion and the estrangement of his daughter, Eryn.
What Bill couldn't live with was the Demon that came to town hungry for those spirits.

And his own.

5.0 out of 5 stars Entertainingly Creepy - Love it! August 21, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
I'll start off by saying that I am a huge fan of anything paranormal. I had no idea what was in store when I started this book, but I am so glad it was recommended to me. From the very first page (and that's not an exaggeration!) Goodship throws us into the life of Forensic Investigator Bill Walters, a man who sees murder victims every day... and their souls. However, when the souls of his victims are being ripped away into oblivion, Bill knows they're not going into the great beyond on their own accord. He senses a great evil amongst them and its up to him to fight it. The only problem is, how do you fight the unknown?

"The Camera Guy" is intense, creepy and an enjoyable read. This book kept me up one too many nights with its excellent writing and disturbing plot. The story easy to follow, with just the right amount of forensic information to make it intelligent, but not too much to make it boring. The religious undertones, the ultimate battle between good vs evil, God vs devil is something that will always interest me... and creep me out. Bill's character of the fallen hero, looking for redemption without realizing it, is the perfect match against the demon on the prowl for souls.

If you like paranormal, ghost stories, or just a good story, "The Camera Guy" is the book for you; I highly recommend it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Everything you expect--and more November 30, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
All the creepy suspense you expect in a supernatural thriller, but with extra twists and turns that keep it unpredictable right to the end. Lots of fascinating forensics stuff, a very real main character you can't help but root for, and a gripping storyline make this a very tough book to put down.

5.0 out of 5 stars Intensely creepy and believable! December 31, 2011

I love intense novels but I wasn't prepared for the believability, vivid description and moody atmosphere in Richard's book! His character and scene development are superb. The protagonist, Bill, is immediately accessible to the reader and he got into my head, as though he was projected there. And he was, by a very talented author, Richard Goodship.

Bill's connection to the ghosts of the murdered victims made my heart palpitate. As their champion, his sympathetic responses to their anguish is vividly portrayed in this fascinating novel. Bill, with his suffering and guilt, brings openhearted humanity and caring to the investigations he performs but is scorned and chastised by the adminstration as he continues to probe into each case.

There is warmth and love in this novel accompanied by the paranormal and fear. It is a wonderful read and I truly found it very visual, credible and exciting...what more can be asked of a good novel?

5.0 out of 5 stars AMAZING. SIMPLY...AMAZING. November 8, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I purchased The Camera Guy expecting a good novel based on an intriguing premise - a forensic investigator with the unique gift (or curse) of being able to see the victims' spirits at the scene of the homicides, allowing him the details needed to solve the crime.

What I didn't expect were the unusual twists and turns that the author, Richard Goodship, raced me through as the story was laid out, got knotted up, and then unraveled itself to expose the darkness that embedded itself in the corners of every page - a demon that destroyed the existence of everyone and everything it touched.

Every scene, every character, every feeling was genuine and entirely viable. I felt myself slipping into the skin of the characters and experiencing each beat of their hesitation and fear.

Bill Walters, "The Camera Guy," is totally real and totally vulnerable. He isn't some hero made out to save the day. He is just an ordinary man, with an extraordinary gift, who sets out to save his own part of the world, and to perhaps set his own demons free.

I fell in step with the reasons why Bill Walters turned his back on his religion, and followed in awe as the author had me questioning the validity of the religious beliefs so many have held true. For me, it blasted open a whole new way of thinking.

The Camera Guy had more than enough suspense and gruesome detail to keep me reading into the early morning hours - and the experience was well worth the lack of sleep!

Bravo to Richard Goodship! I can't wait to get my hands on his other work!

5.0 out of 5 stars BEST SELLER October 22, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
'Wow and then some' doesn't even begin to describe this book. I won't write my synopsis/ version of this book but I will tell you this; the author has not gone into overkill on any particular topic, there's just enough of everything to make this a Best Seller...The minute I started reading I could not pull myself away from it. Regardless of certain feelings stirred in me at certain points through the book, I still could not put it down. There were no 'days' of reading here. I started it and I had to finish it! This is way up there with Stephen King books and if it becomes a movie then it's definitely up there with the Stephen Spielberg movies; My bet would be that it makes it to number 1...Book, Movie or BOTH.
