About the Author

Pat is passionate. If she dreams it, she embraces it and makes it happen. A native of Cuba, Pat grew up on Miami Beach and graduated from the University of Miami. She is a Photographer, Published Author, Inspirational Speaker, 3-time Emmy Award Winning TV Producer, Community Leader & Breast Cancer Survivor. Pat began her career at Capitol Records. She worked and played in radio and television for years. At Miami's WTVJ NBC, she created an environmental awareness campaign called “A Matter of Pride,” which earned her Emmys and accolades. Pat then flew to American Airlines where she was their key spokesperson in Florida, the Caribbean and Latin America. She ended her "Corporate Life" at The Miami Herald/El Nuevo Herald as VP. In 2001, San Pedro opened her PR firm San Pedro Productions. In May 2005, Pat really started to have fun when she published her first book, “Dish & Tell: Life, Love and Secrets” co-authored with several friends known as the Miami Bombshells. Together they also created “Camp Bombshell,” women’s-only weekend retreats. Pat's busy life came to a screeching halt in 2008 when she was diagnosed with breast cancer, the same disease that took her young mother’s life 20 years earlier. However, from the moment of diagnosis, Pat saw her cancer as an opportunity - something that was brought to her life for a reason. She made a decision: to look at the cancer as a blessing that would change her life for the better. She danced her way through a double mastectomy and year of chemotherapy (which she calls Sacred Juice), videotaping the entire healing journey to help others who are diagnosed. Today, Pat uses her story to inspire others. She encourages audiences to live a positive and purposeful life She brings women together through her group the Link of Hope Sistas. Together, they educate, empower and inspire others going through challenges. Pat is the subject of an inspirational documentary based on her healing journey called "Why NOT Me" (Tengo Cáncer), which she co-produced for Discovery Familia and Discovery Home & Health. Pat is the founder of www.PositivelyPat.com, an inspirational health and wellness site offering tips, breakthrough news by world-renowned medical experts, spiritual wisdom and insights, and a one-on-one connection with breast cancer sisters and a whole lot more. Media coverage and TV appearances include: Today Show, Extra TV, NY Times, Woman's World and The Miami Herald. www.PositivelyPat.com

How is this breast cancer book different than the many others on the market? You will immediately connect with the author, Pat San Pedro. You will admire her strength, feel her compassion, rejoice in her healing, and learn from her experience. Your life will never be the same. I have given this book to six courageous women and their caregivers. Each one of them treasure Pat as their friend although they have never met her. Pat guides everyone through times of despair and celebrates in the victories in her engaging and contagious voice. This book is truly uplifting, inspirational, and life-changing.

"The Cancer Dancer" is a very uplifting and informative book for anyone going through breast cancer, any kind of cancer, or any difficult time in their life. It's an interesting and easy read. I think it was extremely kind and generous of Patricia San Pedro to share this very intimate look at her journey through her breast cancer diagnosis, her fears, treatment and recovery. She is able to clearly express all of her feelings, her love of life and gratitude for everything and everyone that she has in her life. Through "The Cancer Dancer" Pat reminded me what is truly important in life and how to keep a positive and thankful attitude no matter how difficult a situation you may find yourself in. Pat provides a detailed story of her personal experience and specific tips for dealing with everyday living while going through cancer treatment. This book helps you feel that you are not alone in your journey and gives you hope that you will get through it just fine. Pat is truly an inspiration and a beautiful person inside and out!

I read this book cover to cover and it helped me throughout my journey. Pat takes you by the hand in her journey and leads you to the path of survival. I can heartfully say that I tried all 400 tips and they worked for me as well as my care-givers. Now, I pay it forward and recommend this book to all that I hear that are going thru cancer. Thank you Ms. SanPedro for documenting your journey and sharing with the world.

I am in the midst of reading this very unique, uplifting and wonderfully informative book regarding the author's journey through cancer and back to a fuller-than-ever life again. I have to take breaks as I read the book because I am a crier, so I have to put it down once in a while when I am overcome by emotion. I recommend this wonderful book to everyone for every obvious reason: so you'll know what to do and what to expect if you or a loved one is faced with this dreaded disease, so you'll be able to live through another person's difficult journey and see firsthand how she survived a life altering experience, and so you can count you lucky stars if you a far removed from anything similar. I personally thank Pat for her courage in documenting her experience because I know her groundbreaking book will serve as such a necessary tool. I have just today learned of her documentary "Tengo Cancer" and look forward to viewing it as soon as it's available in my area.
