Editorial Reviews

Review

"For more than ten years cancer patients at The Wellnes Community have found Carolyn Katzin's nutritional advice to be most helpful. We have all come to rely on her." --Harold Benjamin, JD, PhD, Founder The Wellness Community

From the Author

This is the Fifth Edition of what began as a collection of handouts and recipes.  This new version also contains updated chemotherapy and immune therapy information and how nutrition may need to be modified with specific regimens.  Because I am not affiliated with any pharmaceutical company I believe that my approach is completely unbiased.  My patients and their families have shared their experiences with such courage.  I am humbled by the human spirit and hope that this new edition will reflect some of these life experiences and may reduce the suffering of those of you who face this health challenge. --This text refers to an alternate Perfect Paperback edition.

Cancer survivors, particularly colon cancer survivors having lost much of the intestinal tract, have a difficult time deciding what is best for their "new you" self. What worked before may not work today. Carolyn Katzin has her finger on the pulse of cancer nutrition. Taking into account that this group of survivors may well have other medical problems (Crohn's Disease, Ulcerative Colitis)to mix in with the equation,Dr Katzin is prepared to balance our bodies chemical needs for function with its new mode of letting us know what it will or will not process.

Both Cancer Patients and their Caregivers will find recipes benefitting the whole family. Delicious, nutritious and with variety. I highly recommend The Cancer Center Nutrition Workbook by Dr Carolyn Katzin to any reader with nutrition concerns, most particularly cancer patients and survivors. If there is an opportunity to see Dr Katzin in person (Colon CAncer Alliance featured Dr Katzin this year at its Survivor Conference)don't hesitate to sign up!

This is an extremely valuable book for all those going through cancer treatment and specifically chemotherapy. I have given this to many of my friends who have been in treatment, and all have found it beneficial, and have referred to it frequently. There are easy to follow recipes and advise on the best foods for many different treatment modalities. These suggestions can help keep patients well nourished with a nutritious diet that helps counteract the negative effects of chemotherapy. This thoughtful book is written with the idea of keeping cancer patients at their maximum possible level of wellness while undergoing cancer treatment.

Carolyn Katzin brings not only her absolute expertise in cancer nutrition and prevention, she does it in a loving way, using her knowledge and understanding to bring forth her empathy to those in need. I highly recommend this book to not only those who are victims of cancer, but also their families. The recipes within the book are easy to make, tasty, and most of all palatable for those going through chemotherapy.
