Book Description

Humorous advice for cats, by cats.

The author "discovered" the feline world's best-kept secret in a file hidden on his mother's computer by her cat, Cleo, and now shares it with humanity for the first time. Topics covered range from avoiding visits to the vet, to the artful display of captured prey, to getting in the way of a human trying to read anything, including this paragraph. Upon publication, Cleo denied authorship and hired a team of lawyers with their claws out, but despite her best efforts, word is spreading with over 75,000 Kindle downloads:

The Cat Manual is hilarious for cat-lovers of all ages.

From the author of Cave Passages and Dark Life.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"Do you love cats? Do you have a cat? If yes, then this book is for you. ... It is dead-on when describing the behavior of cats as well as humans."
                                                                  -- MysteriesEtc.

"Cats don't talk, but if they did, they would probably say some of the things in this book."
                                                                  -- one-elevenbooks.com

"I guarantee a lot of chuckles, and some 'A ha! So that's why ...' moments to any readers who have ever lived with a feline, or thought they 'owned' one. Fun, funny, and it will give you new insight into the minds of these "mysterious" creatures!"

-- Karen Watts' Blog About Pets and Books

"Cats rule the world, and we just rent it from them for a daily can of cat food. The Cat Manual explains how this came to be."
                                                                 -- Cats and Crime

"This book offers a rare glimpse into the feline world. Learn, as your cat herself learned, how to properly present a gift, how to identify the 'sucker' in the room, the trick of increasing one's weight at will, and other invaluable lessons."

-- Brightdreamers Book Reviews

"I can't tell you how much I enjoyed this book. I laughed aloud at almost every section (especially the 'Finding and Maintaining Suckers' chapter), and had 'omg, that's so true!' moments whenever a typical-cat behavior was mentioned and explained from their side."
                                                                   -- Rags and Tatters

5.0 out of 5 stars Laugh-out-loud funny January 24, 2012

Michael Ray Taylor's "The Cat Manual" had me laughing before I could even finish the foreword -- and I'm not even a cat lover.

The author's creative genius shows as he translates Cat, the language known only by the feline type. He must have spent months in the translation of this difficult language, and it had to have been a painstaking task. Anyone who has ever owned a cat can relate to the humor of this short, affordable read.

I hope to see more humor pieces from Mr. Taylor soon.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Cat Manual? More like The Cat's Meow! Am I right? January 24, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Just like Jane Goodall, Taylor made productive use of his vacation time by embedding with a native species and bringing scientific observation to what would otherwise be a stalkery preoccupation with other people's business.

And, also just like Jane Goodall, Taylor took his observations and made them into a fun and informative e-book affordably priced for even the most cash-strapped cat lover.

If you only ever read one book written from the perspective of a cat giving instructions to other cats on how to be a proper cat it should totally be The Cat Manual.

4.0 out of 5 stars Alice thru the Looking Glass??? February 15, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Good book so far, but is it possible the author has never heard of Paul Gallico's book "Silent Miaow" which was translated from "cat" in 1964? I'm assuming it is possible, since none of the reviewers seem to have heard of it either. Anyway, to all who enjoy this book, check out the Gallico book. It's wonderful, even if you have to resort to a used copy.
