A Nice Short-Short Time Travel Adventure,

This is a nice little time travel adventure about a young man who is compelled to go back in time to rescue his twin brother who died at the age of four. I like the premise that the trips were being funded by an agency that wanted to record famous points in sports history. Also, there was a nice take on the limits of what could be fixed by time-travel.On the negative side, I don't think enough attention was paid to the consequences of the trip. To me, their should have been more consequences to the individual's personal relationships from living 30 years outside his time.

Definitely a new, fresh take on a great theme...time travel. Wasn't planning on reading it in one sitting but it was too good to put down. Looking forward to reading some more of his short stories.

One of the 1st things I did when I got my new Kindle Fire was look for some free books to download ala my Amazon Prime membership to test out the e reading capabilities of the tablet. One of the first ones I saw was The Chambliss Tapes. I was intrigued by the time travel premise and the involvement of the famous moment in Yankee history. I thought this was a fun story and was a good quick read. I also loved reliving the Chambliss Home Run through the story. All in all, very well done. It has it's faults, but it was fun... especially for free!!!

What set this story apart for me is that there were no wasted words or thoughts by the characters espexcially the protagonist. He simply wants to save his brother. I also enjoyed the accuracy of the description of one of the most thrilling playoff games in baseball history. Detailed right down to when Chambliss had to knock people down to get back to the clubhouse .

This was a nice short story...especially for a freebie. I love having something quick to read for those days when I don't feel like diving into a full length novel. I almost wish that it had been a little longer. The characters seemed interesting but I wanted a little more info on them.

Not Believable,

As I type this tonight, there are a lot of free short stories available in the Amazon Kindle store that are pretty good: this is not one of them, and I am glad it was free and wish I had my ten minutes back. Among many things, I found the science of going back in time and a guy waiting it out 30 years before magically reappearing on the same day he left, and everything is just like it was except him being older, a little hard to believe. While there are many "going back in time" stories and novels out there that are somewhat believable, this one leaves a lot to the imagination. I would strongly recommend you save your time and read something else.

Not about baseball at all,

i thinking that there would be a cool turn someplace. But it was very drawn out, with very little excitement. I really expected the story to be more about baseball, but that was just secondary to the plot. The concept is excellent, i could get in to reading about other adventures of these travelers.

Originally published in the print anthology REBELLION: NEW VOICES OF FICTION. Here is the description: Short story, 7,314 words. Time travel story based around New York Yankees' Chris Chambliss' historic pennant-winning homerun in the 1976 American League Championship Series. A man (Jon) who works for Sports Illuminated, a time travel agency that documents famous events in sports history, travels back in time from 2006 to 1976 to document Chambliss' famous homerun. But Jon has another agenda--to save his identical twin brother who died in an accident at age five.
