This I think is the first textbook on Geology that covers in fair detail evolution of life on ths Geological wonder we call Earth.

I have the eText and since Amazon.com doesn't have a sample text I eventually bit the bullet and bought it. I find the text written well. Anytime new knowledge is presented I fail to see how that can be boring. We have follen into the trap thinking that learning has to be fun. That's not true. Sometimes learning is work! We are not doing students any favors by endorsing such a philosophy. Life is not always fun. Might as well get used ti that now.

My concern is with the eText version. There are 59 illustrations that have been removed from the eText for copyright reasons yet the publisher is still charging full price for eText with what has to be a "comprosed" text book when it's missing 59 illustations. $172 for that is not reasonabe in my opinion.

What illustrations that are there are excellent and support the text well.

I bought this book for class. There was nothing spectacular about the information. It was a dull textbook. Certainly not dull enough to put you to sleep, but nearly there. The book does come with review pages at the end of the chapter. Although I appreciated them, I also felt that the review could have been a little better. Really glad that it was available on Amazon though! My school was charging over $100 for a used copy of the same book!
