Not the best, but not bad either.,
By Raj "raj_thatsme" (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Cheater (Fear Street, No. 18) (Paperback)
Carter Phillips has everything going for her; she's smart, she has the perfect boyfriend, Dan Mason, she has her best friend Jill Bancroft, her dad is the criminal court judge in Shadyside...well, almost everything. Her father keeps pressuring her to get a score of 700 or above on her math achievement test so that she can get into Princeton. Carter tries her best, but knows she cannot get a score like that. One day, a guy named Adam Messner overhears her cry for help, and tells her that he will take the test for her, in return for a date with Carter. Carter feels that it is an easy compromise and agrees. At first things seem to go well, and Carter actually finds herself a little attracted to Adam. But Adam wants more...much more! From dragging Jill into Adams gang, and putting an animal's heart into her bag, to blackmailing for money, Carter feels that Adam has total control over her. No matter what Carter does, Adam blackmails her further, to the point where Carter starts thinking of murdering him. Is she capable of doing this, and will all her troubles actually come to an end?
This book started off well, and when Adam showed up, it became even more interesting. But I felt like the ending was a big let down. Because the story worked its way up more and more with suspense and intrigue, you feel like the ending will be great! However, after you finish reading this book, you feel like R. L. Stine gave up towards the end of the book, and found the easy way out by just trying to make a lame ending. True, there's nothing wrong with this ending, and it did provide a good moral, but I just didn't get the same thrill out of it, like I did when reading other Fear Street books like `Wrong Number' or `The Surprise Party". In conclusion, I wouldn't put this book among my favorite Fear Street books, but if you feel bored and you have nothing else to do, then this is a good read.

The Cheater,
This review is from: The Cheater (Fear Street, No. 18) (Paperback)
R.L. Stine has done it again! He came up with an amazing plot in this book. Carter Phillips is so worried about taking the math achievement test...But then she gets an idea. Why not get the math genius, Adam to take it for her? Adam says that all he wants is one date, but he knows he can get much more than that. Poor Carter can't do anything about it though, or Adam will tell everyone her secret. Then Carter gets another one of her brilliant ideas...Why not murder Adam?

Great Book,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Cheater (Fear Street, No. 18) (School & Library Binding)
The Cheater is the best book I'v read so far, it's romantic, scary, everything you look for in a book. It's about this girl who is having doubts about her math exam, sounds so innocent, then it turns into a complete mess. This is the most ironic book I have ever read. I could read this book over and over. R.L. Stein is a great author, I love his books. This one was the best, I couldn't put it down, I read it all in one day. I suggest that you read this book, it's excellent. There's even a great moral in it, I learned a lot from it.

I Love the Cheater! It Teaches a Great Lesson!,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Cheater (Fear Street, No. 18) (Paperback)
I love the this book in the Fear Street Series because it teaches a vauleable lesson: about you don't get away with everything: Especiallly cheating! In the beginning can understand why Carter needed to cheat. Her father was putting pressure on her to get a high score on the SAT's. Well, what happen was that she panicked so she got Adam Messner to do it for her. Well, she thought that she had promised that one favor for him, a date in exchange if he take the test for her, but instead he wanted more. He wanted alot more. In this chilling book, what the message is that you don't get way with something like cheating. It has a higher price to pay. Just because you think that you promise this or that, you are going to get your way out of things. But Carter learned the hard way. She not only got herself in jeporday, she betrayed her boyfiend, forced her best friend to do something that she wouldn't normally asks her to do. The Cheater is about when done wrong, you are going to have to suffer the consquence.

Good Book,

This review is from: The Cheater (Fear Street, No. 18) (Paperback)
Carter's dad pressures her into making a 700 on her math exam in order to get into Princeton. Her dad is a judge and a Princeton graduate. Carter knows she can't make that high of a score in math. . . . without cheating. Does she cheat to satisfy her dad? If so, does she get caught? If so, does that put her under more pressure and stress? I will not answer these questions because that will ruin the book for those who haven't read it.
Carter has a boyfriend who is crazy over her. . . Even though it did have a little bit to do with the plot, it bothered me that a pretty young girl's name was Carter. . . How yuck. The ending was pretty good. I would recommend this book to a teen but not to an adult (unless they are a die-hard fun-loving adult like me).

This book is excellent, os much better than goosebumps that are too much fantastic. This book is about Carter, a rich girl that is so scared about doing a math test that asks Adam a very intelligent, poor and clever boy to do the test for her, he accept but in price he ask her for a date. She accepts but then he started to order her to give money and date to him. Then buy the book and read what happen next.

My first Stine book....,
By JemPast (Georgia, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Cheater (Fear Street, No. 18) (Paperback)
This was my first Stine book I read. I bought it against my mother's wishes. I was with my Dad when I bought it. She thought that it would scare me. I told her that I bought it & LOVED it. So, she gave me permission to read the Stine books. I bought tons of them. Stine books are the best. I am 23 now and have loved his books for over 10 years. About, 2 years ago I bought a big book lot of his books from the internet for under $90 dollars. I had gotton some duplicates. So, I am going to try and get my 11 year old brother into reading these books.
