There is a lot to like in the character of Simon Templar, who values justice and good manners above petty legalities. The black and white seasons of the Saint have the benefit of the influence of creator Leslie Charteris, which was much diminished when the series went to color. Roger Moore has great panache and a surprising amount of grit sometimes as the Saint.

The series is not high art by any stretch, but even though studio sets and local on-site locations stand in for all the glimmer spots of the world the show still filled me with a sense of wanderlust for all those exciting places jet-setters could go in that era. The show was worth watching then, and I have found it worth rewatching now, which is more than I can say for many other programs.

They just don't make TV like they used to. Where else can you get British Actors to play Hispanic innkeepers with attitude?
Rot you say? Rubbish? Nay! Say it isn't so! Chin up! Jolly good then! Imagine the white looking Volvo in Black and White is a Yellow Volvo... inconspicuously following the bad guy in the other unique looking car. Whats that in the rear view mirror? Its just a movie screen with a movie of someone driving fast you say?
The theme music plays in my head all day now, as my wonderful wife and I have chosen this TV series to be our nightly "mindless" TV watch to go to sleep by. Simon Templar, aka Mr Tombs, will always be near a pretty girl, and get to punch two or three guys out in an episode, and typically help out the disgruntled chief inspector of Scotland Yard, or the Paris Police. Does he work for MI6? Or is he an independent contractor? Who knows... although I do notice the same pictures of old cars on many of the wealthy peoples homes. And that bookshelf in the bar... wasn't that in last weeks apartment episode? Also, the city streets of Spain look similar to those of France, and Jamaca... Just saying.

Love this series... going to watch every last one!
