Summary:
Marcie Hollis has learned from a young age that she has a strong spiritual connection. She feels one of those connections is with her boyfriend Dan. However, since becoming involved with Dan, her spiritual training has fallen behind. Then Marcie heads down to New Orleans from Seattle. This was supposed to be a trip with Dan, but when they get to the airport he tells her the plans have changed and she'll be going on her own. She's left stunned and devastated that he won't be going with her. After she arrives in New Orleans, she waits for her bags and while there gets mugged. It just so happens that DEA Agent Sam Carre is standing right behind her when this happens.

Sam needed to come home to regroup after a failed drug bust. Now he's a witness to a crime. The problem is, he's trying to help the lady who fell victim to the crime and she doesn't remember her name. Sam decides to care for her until she can regain her memories. Her situation with the mugging leaves him with many questions that make him feel that she may be linked to his failed investigation.

Marcie and Sam develop a romantic relationship while they try to solve the puzzle. Once Marcie has her memory back, she goes to Sam to come clean. Will he be able to go against his beliefs and keep her secret or will he turn her in?

My Take:
One of my favorite things to do is problem solving. I don't mean that in a therapy session sense. I mean, let's figure out who done it. I was looking forward to this book because it combines both romance and suspense/mystery. I appreciated the moral of the story. You have different paths in this life to choose from, it's up to you to make the right choice.... Marcie was certainly headed down a destructive path, but fortunately was able to use her abilities to help her make that right choice. The choice was love in this case.

The story was a bit slow to start for me, but began to pick up around 35% into the book. There were some additional lags through out the story, but I felt that the plot was easy to follow along with. I liked both Sam and Marcie. I actually would have liked to have seen more romance between them. Another character I really liked was Jesse. I liked his no holds barred attitude and his ease with Marcie.

I was a bit disappointed with the ending, but since it's part of a series, I assume that the journey with Dan and Lance is far from over. Overall, I would say that if you are looking for a book that is focused on mystery and suspense with just a touch of romance to add into the mix, this is a great read for you. 3.5 out of 5 stars

The first quality the reader will notice about this novel is the amount of events occurring and meshing together all at once. The reader will experience a drug bust, haughty and cruel drug lord, dirty cops, dark entities, etc... Marcie, the main character, is smack dab in the middle of all of this. Marcie is being utilized as a mule for her boyfriend, Dan, who turns out to have some magical persuasive powers of his own. Sam, an agent working to nab Dan and stop the operation, sees and instantly wants Marcie for himself. Marcie is one of those odd, but interesting characters who can see dead people. She is a sympathetic character while Sam is the strong, handsome hero. It doesn't take long for this story to get fairly steamy, there is a little bit of sex (for 18+ readers). The novel is predictable in many ways, but there are a few surprising twists thrown in. The ending is satisfying and expected. This novel is recommended for adult readers who enjoy contemporary romance.

Romantic suspense with a mystical, supernatural slant. This book has well developed characters, lots of action and a fast-paced plot full of twists and turns that kept me riveted to the last page. Highly recommended!

This book had more potential than it delivered. The plot was intriguing and the supernatural aspects were promising. However the descriptions were repetitive and distracting. This was a case of where the author needed to show and not tell. It was pointed out over and over again how the main characters had an innate connection, to the point where I just wanted to say "I get it. I get it. They are meant for each other, let's move on now." I grew tired of reading how Sam shook her to her core, made butterflies in her stomach, jolted her very being...ok already. The author should have trusted the rest of her writing to convey that for the reader not belabor the point. The rest of the writing was good, I enjoyed the plot pacing and felt that the main characters were real. The author just didn't need to try to hard to sell the soul mate angle, less is more.

My review will be shorter than some of my others but with such a detailed Blurb, I don't want to give away too much.

The Choice was not quite what I expected but it was a great read. I was drawn right into the story and lives of the characters to the point I stayed up late just to finish it. I do that a lot with the MM romance reads but not with with many others so, for me, that said a lot about how engrossing and powerful the story was.

As a proud Wiccan, this story intrigued me before I even opened it. The twists and turns were well thought out and by the end, I was more than pleased that I had the honour of reading The Choice by Lorhainne Eckhart. I hope you will give another Indy author a read and find all the wonderful things within The Choice.

I found this book to be a very interesting read. A bit of magic and romance as well as suspense thrown in. For people who are in to one, two or all three of these things, I would recommend this book. This is the first book I have read by Lorhainne Eckhart and I am hoping to read some more of hers.

2012 was an amazing year in the publishing world for me. And it started with, The Forgotten Child, which landed on the Amazon bestseller list for western romance and romance series. And with the publication of each novel and short story each one made its way to the top 10 for its respective genre. 2013 has seen me posted in the top 100 authors on Amazon for Romantic Suspense and Mystery/Thrillers, Police Procedural.

Where did it all begin? In 2008, I published my first novel, The Captain's Lady, a Contemporary Military Romance through The Wild Rose Press. I have a fierce writing schedule with four books scheduled for release this year and six short stories.

I write three genres, edgy romantic suspense (Walk the Right Road Series), western romance (Finding Love ~ The Outsider Series, and young adult mystery and I warn my readers to expect the unexpected. I'm the mother of three children, one a special needs child. We live on a small Island in the Pacific Northwest where I advocate for the environment, and rights of special needs children.
