First I felt like I was reading two stories at the same time, and it would get a bit confusing.

Author Jeff Kinley alternates chapters between the on-going fictional Zombie story analogy and some good solid biblical instruction.

While I think the theology is bad (really bad), that's not necessarily enough to make this book a no-go.

In a world of pansy--money driven--Christianity there is very little openly stated theology. Christian Writers shroud theological concepts in "feel-goods" or the new one, I really love, "feel-smarts" these tricks of writing are used to make individuals feel something, so they will enjoy the writing and feel like they have learned something "good." And who would have guessed it? They buy the next book that author comes out with and the next one. Strange right? There being a correlation between spiritual books that make people feel better and sales rank on the charts?

Kinley does not show an inkling of trying to make people feel better. What he has done is taken a strong stance on how broken everyone is--especially Christians. Absolutely, there are strong stated theological concepts, but that alone is refreshing to see. A Christian author who lays it all on the line not in the direction of everything being okay, but in the direction, that the world is a overwhelmingly broken and evil place, and he does this in spite of the fact that it's not a feel-good-profit-driven ideal.

This book is everything the title begs to be, rough, disturbing, and full of carnage. If you are not willing to be pushed around mentally and theologically, then maybe you should go read Max Lucado, but if you thrive to experience what's consuming you every day, then dare to read Christian Zombie Killers Handbook.

This is really 2 books. It's set up so that one chapter teaches Bible, and the other is a Zombie story that loosely parallels the Bible lesson. I found this to be a little... distracting. I would recommend that if you read the book you read it twice, first going through the Zombie episodes, followed by going through the Bible study. It will make the read far more understandable and enjoyable.

I am not going to discuss the theology of the book and be so brazen as to say what is right and what is wrong. I would recommend that you actually open your Bible and really study/meditate on what the author is suggesting and seeing if you're convicted by God to take action.

The "Zombie Fad" is all the rage right now. Whether it will last as long as the Vampire Craze? Who knows? This book starts out with a bloody encounter then goes on to show the reader how the zombie "virus" is akin to the sin nature that is within us all. It does so in a fairly convincing manner, with a nod toward the graphic novel and other means of reaching the Y/A reader.

For those who like horror and sci-fi, the jargon used in this book is fairly familiar and understandable. For those looking for a fluffy Christian Living piece, look elsewhere. This book is getting down into the muck and mire to reach those who need to hear the gospel in an updated and different way.

Overall, this book is reaching out to the escapist, to those who don't want to read the typical Spiritual Living Guide or inspirational fiction. It will challenge many and bring them to a greater understanding of their need to overcome their sin nature, and hopefully help bring awareness of how it lurks in us all.

I was given this book for free by Thomas Nelson's Book Sneeze Program in exchange for an honest, not necessarily positive, review.

as i finished reading the final pages of this book last night, i sat in silence for about five minutes, pondering what i had just read. why? because this book was THAT good. on one hand, you have the fiction episodes, following a guy named ben as he tries to live his life while zombies are becoming more and more frequent. then you have the chapters, with so much Truth. this isn't a feel-good book. it tackles the nitty gritty, exposing the zombie inside us all.

jeff kinley writes with such passion and truth about the gospel. this book was a major heart check for me. it has opened my eyes to the living dead that has made its way deep into the pit of my heart. and i want nothing more than to put a bullet to its brain so that i may live and walk in the freedom of the Living God.

Such a relevant biblical based book at the time when the Zombies genre is at its peak in video games, movies, TV series, cartoons, etc. I used this as a basis for a series done on Sunday morning with our youth group. Would also be great for a small group to do together. Kinley has discussion questions at the end of each chapter and also list every verse that he uses to make his points; that alone had my youth kids opening the Word of God with such interest. It got the youth excited and interested and sometimes that can be hard. Great book!

There s no tip toeing around the truth in this book, it is in your face TRUTH! I do not like Zombie stories at all. But my son does. Before he read it, I wanted to verify its Biblical truths. Wow! Was I surprised. Every other chapter is the zombie story, the other chapters are application of biblical truths using the zombie analogy of our sinful nature. It ss clear, understandable, and to the point. Sin in our lives is an ugly thing living in the darkest part if our hearts. This book shines a light on it and provokes you to think about the changes you can make. Highly recommend.
