Book Description

October 11, 2011

Ben Forman was just an ordinary guy, a young professional starting his first job and falling in love with his girlfriend. Living on the outskirts of a southern city, he didn't think the zombie activity so common in metropolitan areas would hit so close to home. But it was becoming clear that the mysterious infection reanimating the dead would soon be a worldwide epidemic.

Cutting-edge and culturally relevant, The Christian Zombie Killers Handbook is a unique combination of fiction and nonfiction. It delivers a fresh approach to sin, grace, and salvation, exposing the raging beast within us all, and how to overcome life as a zombie.

Endorsements

Jeff Kinley has found a way to communicate God’s grace to a new audience. The Christian Zombie Killers Handbook is culturally relevant, deeply perceptive and really inspires us to discover the truth for ourselves.

In this volume, you will find a gripping, face-paced zombie survival story as good as any you’ll read in a mainstream horror novel or see in the latest Romero film. But, you’ll also find a parallel commentary providing a startlingly honest insight and unique perspective on our struggle with sin. ―Sean T Page, author of War against the Walking Dead & The Official Zombie Handbook.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not for Pansy Feel Good Christians October 19, 2011
Format:Paperback
In a world of pansy--money driven--Christianity there is very little openly stated theology. Christian Writers shroud theological concepts in "feel-goods" or the new one, I really love, "feel-smarts" these tricks of writing are used to make individuals feel something, so they will enjoy the writing and feel like they have learned something "good." And who would have guessed it? They buy the next book that author comes out with and the next one. Strange right? There being a correlation between spiritual books that make people feel better and sales rank on the charts?

Kinley does not show an inkling of trying to make people feel better. What he has done is taken a strong stance on how broken everyone is--especially Christians. Absolutely, there are strong stated theological concepts, but that alone is refreshing to see. A Christian author who lays it all on the line not in the direction of everything being okay, but in the direction, that the world is a overwhelmingly broken and evil place, and he does this in spite of the fact that it's not a feel-good-profit-driven ideal.

This book is everything the title begs to be, rough, disturbing, and full of carnage. If you are not willing to be pushed around mentally and theologically, then maybe you should go read Max Lucado, but if you thrive to experience what's consuming you every day, then dare to read Christian Zombie Killers Handbook.

4.0 out of 5 stars A New take on the Zombie Fad September 28, 2011
Format:Paperback
The "Zombie Fad" is all the rage right now. Whether it will last as long as the Vampire Craze? Who knows? This book starts out with a bloody encounter then goes on to show the reader how the zombie "virus" is akin to the sin nature that is within us all. It does so in a fairly convincing manner, with a nod toward the graphic novel and other means of reaching the Y/A reader.

For those who like horror and sci-fi, the jargon used in this book is fairly familiar and understandable. For those looking for a fluffy Christian Living piece, look elsewhere. This book is getting down into the muck and mire to reach those who need to hear the gospel in an updated and different way.

Overall, this book is reaching out to the escapist, to those who don't want to read the typical Spiritual Living Guide or inspirational fiction. It will challenge many and bring them to a greater understanding of their need to overcome their sin nature, and hopefully help bring awareness of how it lurks in us all.

I was given this book for free by Thomas Nelson's Book Sneeze Program in exchange for an honest, not necessarily positive, review.

3.0 out of 5 stars 2 books for the price of 1 April 12, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is really 2 books. It's set up so that one chapter teaches Bible, and the other is a Zombie story that loosely parallels the Bible lesson. I found this to be a little... distracting. I would recommend that if you read the book you read it twice, first going through the Zombie episodes, followed by going through the Bible study. It will make the read far more understandable and enjoyable.

I am not going to discuss the theology of the book and be so brazen as to say what is right and what is wrong. I would recommend that you actually open your Bible and really study/meditate on what the author is suggesting and seeing if you're convicted by God to take action.
