From the fist time I ever heard this song , & still today, by the end of thecsong I'm crying like a baby. I can picture all of this happening, & I've also seen the TV movie but it doesn't do the song justice.I look forward to hearing this tune ever year.

One of my favorite Christmas songs. Always makes me cry and reminds me of what's important and why I try and help my neighbors in our elderly disabled building as much as I can.

I know that this review is going to get a lot of hate, but hear me out. This song is just plain depressing. I mean, who really wants to be depressed on one of the happiest days of the year? I really cannot find a true point to this song other than to make people sad and cry. Shouldn't Christmas songs be happy? Call me a Scrooge, but this song is just too annoying and depressing for me.

Like many others, I've cried many times listening to this song, and have watched the movie which was driven from a book (translated in 6 languages) that was driven by this song. As someone who loves the essence and the true meaning of Christmas, as well as someone who lost her mother around Christmas time, I love the purity of the child in the song, who just wanted to do something for his mother before she sees Jesus in heaven, as well as the man in the story who's impatience is melted away by helping another in need. In the story version, it goes more into why the child chose to buy shoes for his mother, it's because the mother's happiest memories with her husband were dancing and lost the shoes, and the boy wanted to buy her similar shoes so he earns the money, but falls few dollars short from affording the shoes. I am very disturbed by the negative reviews on this song, perhaps they need to stick to frosty-the-snowman. Not that Billboards mean everything, but this song did come in #1 on the Billboard charts in January 2001.
