About the Author

Heather Brewer was not your typical teen growing up. She wore black, danced under full moons, and devoured every book in sight. She hasn't changed much. Today, Heather can be found writing in her funky, black Happy Bunny jammie pants, dancing under a full moon, devouring every book in sight, and attending renaissance faire in full costume (and in character).

When Heather's not writing, dressing up, dancing and reading, she's answering email, which she loves to get over at her website.

More About the Author

Heather Brewer doesn't believe in happy endings...unless they involve blood.

These are the only books in my son's book collection that have worn covers. Not just because he takes the books with him everywhere he goes on the off chance he will get a free minute to read a page or two, but because everyone borrows them. The books get passed to 2 and 3 kids every time. They come back quickly! The kids devour them. My son is an avid reader....when he finds a book he loves. He isn't a Twilight fan, or into the EMO or goth stuff. But he loves the mystery and action in these books!

To say I was hooked from the first book would be lying. The book is anything but bad, and anything but good. The plot of the series really has you on the edge of your seat... And scratching your head in pure confusion. The writing itself is lacking. Heather Brewer has an amazing imagination, but maybe not the best execution skills.
Nonetheless this series sends you on a roller coaster ride. I cried, I laughed- a lot!- and I cried some more. I would recommend this book to kids who are just starting to read chapter books. The books increase in volume as the series progresses and so does the content. I can honestly say the last book in the series is one of my favorites. The twist and turns were perfectly executed and by the end I was utterly satisfied, glad I'd stuck it out.

I didn't know they sold these books in a boxed set, so I bought them seperately, but it wasn't that bed 'cause I got some of them when borders was closing. But I've read all five. Each of the books gets the following review:

Eigth Grade Bites **- It was okay, but it was pretty boring. Nothing happened in most of the books, and the last few parts are really rushed. You don't realize whats happening half the time but it wasn't that bad. The ending was interesting and it made the whole book much better.

Ninth Grade Slays ***- Much better. Vlad becomes more vampiric, and it no longer just seems like a human pretending to be a vampire half the time. You see more vampires than in the first book, and shows the importance of Elysia. Jaw-dropper at who the slayer actually is, but you kind of expect it because of its unexpectedness. The ending made me sad, but it was good.

Tenth Grade Bleeds ****- I love this book. You really start to see Vlad's darker side, which is true as you age. I was crying when Henry was cold towards him, but it made the story more belivable. I really don't like unhappy endings, which is why I didn't like the ending of this book, but it was really realistic, despite its darkness.

Eleventh Grade Burns*****- Really Good Book! Joss comes back with much more determination and firmness than before, but you can still kind of see the boy he once was. Vlad is discovering his powers more and more, and is redeeming his past behavhior. Much better than any up until this one, and the ending is total jaw-dropper.

Twelfth Grade Kills*****- Won't say much but this book is the best in the series. Its amazing and action-packed the whole time. If you like this series, you'll definately love this book. Amazing*

I bought this boxed set for my 12-year old grandson--he loves to read--what a wonderful thing to discover about a young person!!! He's been summarizing the stories for me and I think I might have to read them for myself. Vladimir Tod is a vampire and he chronicles his experiences in grade and high school. This boxed set was a real HIT with my grandson!!! And I love Amazon.com for always having what I'm looking for.

I was trying to find some interesting books to encourage my Grandson to read more and less tv. He now enjoys reading.

My daughter loves these books. To have found them in a set at such a wonderful price was great. She got them for Christmas last year and she read them all in about a month. She loves this series.

My son is an avid reader & loves this series. They are short so he read them quick but has read them twice each since Christmas.

This is by far one of my most favorite series. It involves vampires (which hasn't been the way it used to be, thanks to Twilight), and pulls it off well. It also has your usual teen stuff in it, which is easy related to for me, being a teen myself. I'd recommend this series to anyone and everyone.
