Product Description

There are those who believe that a creature as small as a young child, but as deadly for its size as any on earth, has been depicted in the ancient art of the Mayans. There are others who say that it was spawned through genetic engineering, or eluded capture when its space ship crashed to earth.

The rumors, the sightings and the physical evidence are spreading throughout the Spanish-speaking world. A cultural phenomena only? It was, until the deputy sheriff of an east Texas town investigated the bizarre killing of a prize bull...

2.0 out of 5 stars This book "sucked"--but...so do the Chupacabra., December 2, 2011

This review is from: The Chupacabra: A novella (Kindle Edition)
Suggestions to the author:

First suggestion: Class this as a children's book as it would be perfect for a group of 8-to-10-year-olds around a Cub Scout campfire.

Second suggestion: Get an editor to PROOFREAD and edit your book!!! My God, is the woman in your story a radio astronomer or a radio astrologer??? Only you and your hairdresser know for sure. In addition, part of the reason your book rates only two stars is because it is swimming in errors which are too plentiful to overlook.

Third suggestion: Get an editor...'NUFF SAID.

Fourth suggestion: Don"t make the U.S. Military the villain when you are writing about a 2000 year old Mayan myth; after all, regardless of how much you apparently dislike our Military...it's a shame you feel the need to demonize them and use them as a scapegoat (no "goat" joke intended) for something as unimportant as this book.

Suggestion to potential readers:

Don't! (unless you're a Cub Scout)

I for one thought this was a very good read. I am now looking for more from this author. I love anything to do with cryptozoology..so this fits the bill for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Chupacabra, August 22, 2010

A great book and a great writer. Worth far more than I paid. In 8/2010 they are here, but maybe not as shown in the book. Still, very lethal and deadly! Check out National Geographic Documentary I saw several months back.

More About the Author

Dallas Tanner was born in 1956, at the stroke of midnight during the worst storm of the century to that date, in the seacoast township of North Kingston, Rhode Island. The eldest child of a career naval officer, he attended 9 schools in 12 years, as they moved about the country. His interest in local myths, legends and all things paranormal grew out of the ever-changing diversity of his upbringing.

His first novel, "Shadow of the Thunderbird", was required reading at a large technical college in South Carolina. He has frequently lectured, appeared on or hosted radio shows, and presented at conferences on his books and interest in cryptozoology. His latest venture has been as an expert segment commentator on ten episodes of the #1 rated Animal Planet show, "Lost Tapes". He was recently offered his own curriculum at the collegiate level based on his novels, as an associate professor of English.

He is often cited in the media as an expert on unknown or unexpected animals. He was instrumental in salvaging Dan Taylor's Nessie chaser mini-subs, the Viperfish and the Nessa II, and is currently pursuing an interest in fossil diving. Having completed "The Cryptids Trilogy", which consists of the novels "Shadow of the Thunderbird", "Track of the Bigfoot" and "Wake of the Lake Monster", Tanner has completed a fourth novel, "The Shroud", a 15th century conspiracy story.

When he is not out doing location research at Mt. St. Helens, Loch Ness or Georgia's famed Altamaha River, America's 'Little Amazon', Dallas is content to write his books in the study of his home office under the watchful eye of his long haired Maincoon cat, Samwise, who sleeps atop his computer monitor. He now lives in Greenville, South Carolina, with his wife and five children. He enjoys corresponding with his readers, and can be reached at dltanner99@aol.com by email, and http://www.dallastanner.com via the web.
