About the Author

Film scholar and professor Alessandro Pirolini is the author of Rouben Mamoulian (1999) and several essays on American and European directors. He teaches film history and theory at UCLA Extension-Department of Entertainment Studies, at the Osher Institute at UCLA, and at California's Antelope Valley College.

More About the Author

Alessandro Pirolini is a film scholar with a a Ph.D. in Film Studies, a Master of Arts in United States Studies, and a Laurea in Modern Literature and Film Studies.
He focuses his research on the application of multimedia tools to the teaching of film history and theory. His interests cover American and European film history, the influence of Mitteleuropean directors in Hollywood, the Feminist Film Theory, and Italian film history.
He is the author of a book on director Rouben Mamoulian (1999), several articles on film history and theory, and a book on the postmodern elements in the cinema of Preston Sturges (2010).
He currently teaches Film History and Theory at:
UCLA Extension-Department of Entertainment Studies and Performing Arts (Los Angeles, CA),
The Osher Institute at UCLA (Los Angeles, CA)
Antioch University (Culver City, CA)
He also lectured at The Academy at Disney Animation, The Institute of Italian Culture, and the Italian Department at UCLA.
