Creepy, June 30, 2005
This book seems like the movie The Punisher, at first. But the more you delve into the book, the more mysterious it becomes. I don't want to give a full synopsis of the book and the plot; you can read that for yourself on the description section.
Instead, I'll tell you why I liked this book.
- It seemed familiar, yet unique; reminiscent of The Punisher movie, yet totally new
- It was brilliantly written, with enough suspense to keep you interested from cover to cover
- It was creepy, sort of like the aftermath of a car wreck that you don't want to see, yet you're curious about
- It was long enough to be a good value, but not too long so as to be boring
If you liked books like Red Dragon or The Silence of the Lambs by Thomas Harris, you'll love this one.

exciting yet odd thriller, September 29, 2004
One Christmas Eve, struggling artist Jack meets with a potential patron at Jack's warehouse. His client never shows up, but when a disappointed Jack returns home he finds the murdered corpses of his wife, son and parents. His new goal is to kill the person who killed his loved ones, but first he must find out who did the dastardly deed.
He teams up with Nikki the prostitute as both shares in common the loss of loved ones due to serial killers. They search for serial killers and when they catch them they make them confess on tape who they murdered and where they buried the bodies. The police dub Jack the Closer because he provides some closure to the victims' families. When Jack and Nikki learn about a secret site for serial killers, they gain the passwords and codes to the Stalking Ground. There he finds his family killer, but who will provide victorious in this cat and mouse game they play.
THE CLOSER is an exciting yet odd thriller reminiscent of Bronson's Death Wish but somewhat different because all the characters even the professionals are serial killers. In his pursuit of justice, Jack crosses the line to become the thing that he wants to destroy which turns him into a paradox. Nikki keeps him grounded until he finally goes one step too far for even her and she is forced to walk away. There is plenty of violence in this crime thriller though the plot contains numerous serpentine twists and red herrings as Jack's quest to find his family's killer never stays on a straight path. Those detours make for a solid but intense reading experience.

Dot Com Horror Show, May 23, 2005
If people like this really exist, then boy, we'd better watch out. The Patron, Road Rage, Gourmet, and Djinn-X, are truly horrific characters. Each of them deserved what they got and more, and it was so much fun knowing they got what was due to them. The Closer is all business and man, what a gruesome business he and his cohort Nicki are in. I loved their relationship although there wasn't any romance, you kind of got the feeling that if the Closer shows up again, he and Nicki will be a romantic killer couple instead of just a killer couple.
