Book Description

If Derrick thought experiencing alternate timelines and glimpses into the future was strange, then he had no idea it was about to get a whole lot more strange.

When Derrick Sloane meets Annie Maddock and falls madly in love, he believes he's met the girl of his dreams. Only he then awakes to discover she is exactly that...nothing more than a dream. Disheartened, he goes to the first coffee shop he can find. There he meets Annie. She is at the same table, reading the same book, and he fast realizes his dream has shown him his own future. But when a misstep alters that perfect future he tries to fix it, every attempt only making it worse.

Dreaming the future can be a nightmare when you see what's coming...but should you still try to change it?

"4 out of 5 Stars" - Connie Bookreviews

"5 out of 5 Stars" - Joseph Beekman (Author of the critically acclaimed, "Little Orphan Anvil", and "A Tail Spun.")

4 out of 5 Stars - "The dialogue is highly stimulating; full of banter, humour and wit; and the rapid shifts between dream and reality, future and present, keeps the reader intrigued. The somewhat poignant romance may even make your eyes mist over. I absolutely recommend this book to anybody who wants to read a romance with an unforgettable twist and a healthy dose of suspense. "The Coffee Shop" will pleasantly surprise you!" - Book Baby reviews

5 out of 5 stars - "Just finished The Coffee Shop. Holy Moly!! I didn't want it to end!!" - Brittany Carrigan

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read!! December 6, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
I won this book in a giveaway and received a copy from the author. The Coffee Shop was definitely a tear jerker in some spots. After Derrick's 2nd or 3rd dream I was super happy that the book hadn't ended. But the ending was definitely not what I had expected! This is a great read and I can't wait to see what Lauren comes out with next :) I would recommend this book everyone that needs a good reason to be thankful for the people that they have in their life! Truly a great book :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Read November 17, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
Derrick meets a woman at The Coffee Shop and falls hard for her , but Annie wants to take it slow , her past has left her uneasy about opening up , as Derrick begins to prove himself to her ,and she begins to trust him , Derrick knows he loves her. But when it all seems like a dream , he has to believe in fate or be forever without Annie.
This book really surprised me , it has such a twist to it .
It took off quick and had my full attention . I loved the whole plot of the story , and all the unexpecting events is so wonderfully twisted. Author Lauren Hunter gave this story a different and unique concept that grabs you and doesnt let go until the end.

3.0 out of 5 stars 1/2 & 1/2 November 1, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
I had some mixed emotions and opinions about this book. Although the concept, story and idea of the book was such a keen one; I didn't like the delivery of it. The idea = fabulous. The story = sweet, bent, twisted, surprising and confusing in some spots. The concept = GENIOUS! I felt like I was reading a tennis match per se'. The "questions & questioning" got way out of hand in the book. I actually got frustrated reading question after question. I really had high expectations of this book when reading the snidbits about it. I like the idea but not the story telling. If that makes any since to anyone? I'm not sure if it could have been told any differently but the constant questions got on my nerves. I did finish the story regardless because I was interested in the concept. An ok read. Some readers might light the banter between all the characters but I felt it was way overdone. It did, keep me reading no matter what so I guess mission accomplished :) I was still interested enough in the story to keep going regardless. Great idea. Could use a different way of delivering.

I think it's time for amazon to restrict the reviews to people who actually BOUGHT the product.
What brought this rubbish to the top of reviews were fakes from friends of the author, from people who received free copies and from the author herself.

Aghrr, the self-publishing in kindle... allowing anything and anybody to be published and given the lofty title of a "book".

The "literary" style reminds me of the garbage I used to churn out when I was in third grade to amuse my classmates.
The dialogue is extremely lame and boring, truly embarrassing to write like that.

Don't buy, there are so many excellent books written beautifully by real authors, there is no need to waste your time on THAT.

2.0 out of 5 stars Two and a half stars July 7, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I would have given two and a half stars because I'm wavering between it was okay and I liked it. It bothered me a bit that the whole book was basically dialogue, I felt like at times I just wanted to read some paragraphs for a change. Besides, at times I found it a bit confusing as to who was talking and some of the conversations seemed a bit silly. It took me a while to really get into this book and once I did, the jumping from dream to dream started to get a bit annoying. There was a lot of repetitiveness, having to read the same conversation over and over, and then the whole idea of dreaming just stopped altogether, only to pick up again later. I wish this book had ended at a different spot because just as I was starting to feel some emotion for the characters, I was being told it was all a dream again and I kind of lost interest in what happened to them. It just got really irritating because there was a good buildup and then you were being told something different. Being a stickler for a good ending, the ending of this book bothered me a bit. Nonetheless, the author did a good job building her characters through the dialogue and it was an interesting premise but perhaps a bit too confusing at times.

I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow......just wow..... August 28, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Disclaimer: I received an e-copy in exchange for an honest review.

Wow. That's all I can really say. This is one of those books where you think everything's one way, and then all of a sudden, your whole world's been turned upside down. When I started reading, I'll admit that I didn't read the blurb (I like to go into books I'm reviewing "blind", so they say). I thought it was going to be your typical contemporary romance: boy meets girl, boy likes girl, boy says and does stupid things trying to impress girl, etc etc. But BOY does it ever take an awesome turn from the norm! I don't want to ruin it for anybody, as it's just something you need to experience for yourself, so go grab your copy today!!

5 stars well-deserved

5.0 out of 5 stars Thouroughly Enjoyable Read! August 7, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is the first book I've read by Lauren Hunter, but it won't be the last.

THE COFFEE SHOP was captivating and well done. The characters were easy to understand, and well developed. It was a quick and easy read, that left me wishing for more!

I enjoyed THE COFFEE SHOP to the last word. The ending that I thought would be, freaked me out a bit. But, with the twist at the very end, the author made me feel OK with the world again. I Loved how it was set up for a sequel.

I hope that the author does plan a sequel, so her fans can once more enjoy Derrick and Annie's lives and romance in the future...or maybe in the past!
