1.0 out of 5 stars Where's the content? January 4, 2010
This seems to be only a few highlights of what's in the Dispatch for the day, perhaps some sort of ad speaking "buy a paper subscription". There are many paper and website articles that haven't made their way to the Kindle edition. Like other reviewers have mentioned, it's completely missing the things that make it a newspaper -- things like the weather, classifieds, any sort of serious business news, etc.. It's even lacking many of the headlines, not just the minor features.

The Dispatch offers an electronic edition that is the word for word, ad for ad paper through their own website, but the Kindle Edition is very, very sorely lacking content.

I'd easily pay more than the cost of paper subscription to have the actual newspaper on my Kindle, but even at the lower than average price for The Dispatch's Kindle Edition, it's not worth the time or money.

1.0 out of 5 stars I know you can provide more electronically! October 28, 2010
By DMcCray
Come on guys, it is an electronic version of the printed version. Why can't you provide EVERYTHING that is in the printed version in this version for the Kindle? You provide it on your website. Are you that electronically uneducated? Here is one way to increase your revenue with very little additional cost - why not take full advantage of it? Also, I emailed the Dispatch asking similiar questions and received NO response.

4.0 out of 5 stars Finally July 31, 2009
Since I spend a fair bit of time on the road and I am a bit of a news junkie, I've been using a software RSS feed compiler running on my home PC to compile the web version of the Dispatch and email to my kindle. This has worked well for about 6 months, but I was thrilled to see this show up as a newspaper subscription. The menu format the kindle newspapers use is better than the menus my software had been generating from what it pulled from the dispatch website. That alone sells it for me, and not having to keep something running on my home PC seals the deal.

The layouts and formatting are not as pretty as the NY times, and there are no graphics (which is why I dock 1 star). BUT, the news articles are here and it's easily readable, searchable, and it automagically arrives when I turn the wireless on.

I like it, but I would encourage the dispatch editors to put in some graphical content, especially when it is referenced by the text of the article.

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent!! July 29, 2009
By Dr-Goat
The kindle version of the Columbus Dispatch is all that I expected. I am very happy to have this before 6 a.m. every morning. The only section I noticed missing was the funny pages. The Wednesday recipe section is there, as are the many sections of that huge Sunday edition. A big plus is the price; at $6.99 the kindle version is less that I paid for the paper version. Overall, a quality paper at a good price and (finally!) an Ohio newspaper that is available on kindle.

1.0 out of 5 stars what a terrible digital beginning...not impressed July 30, 2009
It only took me maybe five minutes after deciding on my 14 day free trial that I definitely did not want this subscription to continue. Maybe The Dispatch is desperate for readership since the paper version is not purchased by as many people now and the rates go up every month on average, but this is a terrible way to try and get new readers. All I got on my Dispatch subscription was links to the website and when I clicked the wheel on individual article groups, I got the "lookup, highlight, note" feature of the Kindle. It wouldn't allow me to expand the grouping and I got the impression that I couldn't read the paper without being able to go to their website. I am reminded yet again why I canceled my online subscription (where I COULD read the articles) as well as my Sunday home delivery. Dispatch, you need to get it together and get with the digital program or no amount of rate increase will save your precious hometown paper. If there was a negative star rating possible, I would give it. Not impressed at all with this by the Dispatch.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible experience on iPad 2 Kindle App January 27, 2012
By Jim
This product offers something that the iPad app lacks: option for single issue purchases ($28.99 to subscribe to the Dispatch on the iPad....). Plus the monthly subscription cost is significantly cheaper.

However, the lay out is terrible. Just give me a PDF of the printed version -- not some funky menu layout as offered here.

I won't be buying this again....

4.0 out of 5 stars Well Pleased December 1, 2009
I am enjoying my subscription to the Columbus Dispatch. I was hesitant to purchase my Kindle subscription due to some poor reviews, but this has been an excellent experience. My daily paper has arrived without incident and navigation is easy. I recommend it.

4.0 out of 5 stars A fine digital distro December 28, 2010
The digital Columbus Dispatch gives me everything I expect from it. It provides a layout like any other digital paper letting you scroll through articles or browse by section. Missing funny papers and puzzles but otherwise works great!
