Review

This new Bible story book has special appeal for readers ages 7 to 12. The unique comic-style presentation provides an ideal introduction to the great stories and themes from the Bible. The perfect gift that will impact young hearts and minds for years to come, adults will enjoy the art as well. The unusually bright and vivid colors are a welcome contrast to the other comic-style Bible story books currently available. The Kid's Picture Bible is perfect for young readers who enjoy a comic book format. --Midwest Book Review

The Comic Book Bible is actually a, not the, comic book Bible. There are two other word ballon type comic book Bibles on Amazon.com. I have bought all three and had many children compare them. The Picture Bible by Iva Hoth is overwhelming the most popular artistic style with children, also the cheapest per page, and per word. The artistic style of The Comic Book Bible is preferred with some teenage girls and is cheaper if The Picture Bible is out of your range. You can get a good idea of the artistic style of this and the other comic Bibles by looking at the picture of the cover on Amazon.com. The Comic Book Bible is done in the style of humorous cartoons and is less realistic than others. While I suggest Hoth's you might also consider Heros of the Bible by Carolyn Larsen for teen and adult males. Tip, search for Heros of the Bible by author not title. Catholics may also like The Big Book of Martyrs, by John Wagner. One last point, comics have a powerful ability to grab an audience, children, teens, and adults. This makes them a great evangelical tool. If your children have reached the stage where they think picture bibles are to immature for them, but the real thing is to advanced a comic book Bible can be a very good buy.

THe only thing I didn't like about it is that the quoted verses are in King James. Kids wouldn't read KJ text. Each page has about 4 dialogs and the top of each page has a KJ verse base on the dialogs on that page. Each story ends happily which I like. I like comics, and so I like this one. I didn't find any errors with this one doctrinaly.

Nice, basic book. Good for parents to read to their non-readers, and also good for early readers to read to themselves. Good starter Bible. If your kids are a tad older and can read well, I recommend the Picture Bible. It is an awesome, comprehensive product. It manages to show and tell all of the stories truthfully without being gruesome. We decided on the Picture Bible for our 6-9-yr-olds. It offers a whole lot more for not much more money on Amazon. If we had a 3-5-yr-old, though, this Comic Book Bible would be fun to read to them.

I'm really happy with this book. I have a son with autism and this book is perfect for him, and my other kids like it too. My kids are from ages 3-11, and my son is 8. My son prefers cartoony, simple illustrations as pictures that are too busy or realistic overwhelm him visually. This is perfect, and very simple. I love that it has actual quotes from the KJ bible up above (that is the version we use at church.) But the text of the comic is simple enough that he can understand most of it, and what he doesn't, I can easily explain.

My son REALLY needs visuals to help him understand as simply listening to stories is very hard for him, so I was really grateful to find this book. We have other scriptural picture books, but this one has been the most helpful. My son loves comics so this is right up his alley.

The only problem I had with this book is that the first few pages fell out the second time I opened it and no one but me had touched it yet. But, I still liked the book so much I just taped the pages back in and used it as is. Not sorry I got it at all--not even enough to give it four stars instead of five.

A wonderful creation for children! Rob Suggs took the stories of the Bible and put them into comic book form, making it a truly remarkable way for children to learn the Bible with out feeling bored. The pictures are drawn perfectly to coincide with the stories of the Bible and Rob Suggs uses the bubble features to show the characters talking. Along with this, he adds a bit of humor to make it even more enjoyable. This gets 5 stars and 2 thumbs up for a creative way to entertain kids at the same time as teaching them about our wonderful Creator.

If you have a child who finds trying to learn the Bible difficult or boring, I recommend you grab a copy of Rob Suggs' The Comic Book Bible, sit back, and watch them having a great time reading the Bible!!! My kids did

I bought two copies of this for my daughters. My 11 year old didn't want to put it down! She has already read it cover to cover! My 9 year old has read some of it, but hasn't shown as much interest. She still prefers her story Bible. It may not be a true "Bible", but it's a step above story Bibles in that it contains actual scripture. The way I look at it, they are getting some of God's actual words while learning the general background on other topics. If it spurs their interest, then great! God's word will not return void--you'll always get something out of it!

I've been trying to get my eight-year-old son more interested in reading the Bible on his own and this certainly did the trick! He's been carrying it around with him in the car, at church, and in bed since we bought it for him. He's been reading it and asked recently in the car where in the Bible Jonah happened so he could reference it in the Comic Book Bible. Like a traditional graphic novel, it is a (literal) God-send for those kiddos that might need an additional push to get into reading on their own. Highly recommended for Christian families.
