Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

Lucille Ball has become a revered icon, beloved and treasured by millions, in the same league as Elvis, Monroe, Chaplin, and Dean. This book examines how and why she got there.

About the Author

Acclaimed author and television chronicler Michael Karol lives in New York. His best-selling books include Lucy A to Z: The Lucille Ball Encyclopedia, and The ABC Movie of the Week Companion.

More About the Author

I am a New York-based entertainment journalist and author. I research information -- much of it about Lucille Ball & Company, golden age Hollywood, and classic TV -- and I write up the cool stuff that I find. All of this has led to my best-selling books LUCY A TO Z: THE LUCILLE BALL ENCYCLOPEDIA and THE ABC MOVIE OF THE WEEK COMPANION.

But wait! There's more. On the Lucy side, I've written four shorter books: THE LUCILLE BALL QUIZ BOOK (the only one out there!), THE LUCY BOOK OF LISTS, THE COMIC DNA OF LUCILLE BALL: INTERPRETING THE ICON, and LUCY IN PRINT. My television tomes include SITCOM QUEENS: DIVAS OF THE SMALL SCREEN and THE TV TIDBITS CLASSIC TELEVISION BOOK OF LISTS.

I boldly ventured into fiction with the gay vampire novel KISS KILL: A VAMPIRE'S TALE, and into children's, ahem, literature with the Kindle single THE LITTLEST GINGKO. I am currently writing a sequel to KISS KILL called DIE JOB, and will soon be publishing WORK: THAT THING I USED TO DO, a chronicle of my experience as an unemployed person.

I keep a bottle of Vitameatavegamin by my computer for health and inspiration.

The title of this book is misleading. I really thought I was buying an in depth study of the way Lucille Ball performed and honed her craft. Instead, I got a book that lists off all of her awards and accolades that didn't make the author's previous book. Held my attention for a few minutes but totally not vital to any Lucy collection.

This little book is chock full of more interesting info than a full sized book on ANY celebrity. Lucy fans will find it fascinating, riveting, informative and fun to read. Chock full of interesting trivia. I highly reccomend this book about Lucille Ball (and her varioous television incarnations), the greatest and most popular entertainer in the history of television.
