Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com Review

Many things have been said recently about artist Robert Crumb, arguably the only creative force from the American 1960s who not only continues to produce work, but also continues to get better and better. The Complete Crumb Comics traces that progress. Volume 12 encompasses work from the late 1970s that Crumb did with autobiographical comics writer Harvey Pekar, as well as comics from CoEvolution Quarterly and Winds of Change.

Review

Taken in sequence, these books display the evolution of Crumb’s style, from his repressed yet dreamily idealistic early efforts to the joyful discoveries made by Crumb in the aftermath of his ‘fuzzy acid’ period of the mid ‘60s, to the postfame autobiographical works and endless strips obsessed with misogyny and perversion. (The Village Voice)

What a long, strange trip it’s been. Over the course of his five-decade career the comic artist R. Crumb has gone from hero of the hippie underground to toast of the international art world. (The New York Times)

I would consider Robert Crumb to be one of the greatest cartoonist of the 20th century. He draws upon real life (usually his own). He touches on subjects like "The Final Solution", "Nerds", "Worry Worts", and more. And of course, his drawings show his love for the full figure woman.

A unique genius like Crumb is ill suited to collaborative work, the Pekar series is not representative Crumb.

I am a LONG time Robert Crumb fan; so I enjoy everything he does. If you are a serious fan then you should get the entire series for your library.
