The Rolling Stones Charlie is my Darling - Ireland 1965 Super Deluxe Box Set Animation

A History in the Whirlwind: The Rolling Stones’ 50th Anniversary

By Anthony DeCurtis

When the nascent Rolling Stones began playing gigs around London in 1962, the notion that a rock & roll band would last five years, let alone fifty, was an absurdity. After all, what could possibly be more ephemeral than rock & roll, the latest teenage fad? Besides, other factors made ... Read more in Amazon's The Rolling Stones Store

2.0 out of 5 stars Who do they think will buy this? July 6, 2007
Format:Audio CD
This is a great collection if you meet all of these criteria:
a) you LOVE the Stones obsessively
b) yet, you don't own any of their albums from the 60's and early 70's
c) you don't mind redundancy
d) you don't mind redundancy
e) you don't mind redundancy
f) you have so much money, you don't know what to spend it on

This seems like a pretty narrow audience, but I'm sure they did some market research studies.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poorly Described Lot August 14, 2007
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I like to collect box sets, so when I saw this one had a price drop and was around 43% off, I couldn't resist. Unfortunately, Amazon's idea of a box set was just to place the 22 release in a cardboard shipping box and call that a box set. There is no additional box for holding these CDs, no new booklet, or other cool promos items that you typically associate with box sets.

At the lowered price, which has since disappeared, I received the CDs for about $11 per CD. That is a good price on these CDs, considering that they frequently list out at $18.99. Still, I can't help but feel like I got misled in purchasing this lot. At the current price, this is a pure rip off in addition to being a poorly described item. Avoid this lot and purchase the CDs you want separately.

5.0 out of 5 stars ABKO - oh no, not you again! June 12, 2007
Format:Audio CD
This is the essential collection of the recordings of the Stones' first phase. The songs sound fine in the remastered edition (they didn't in the first CD editions, which were of the worst digitalizations you can imagine). However, the real fans probably own it yet. Once again, things are missing. To be complete, you have still to buy a whole box of singles to own the "Got Live If You Want It" EP and also there are a number of recordings, which only appeared on the Russian releases (or on bootlegs). So we are still waiting.

1.0 out of 5 stars Can YOU say..."milk?" April 7, 2008
Format:Audio CD
C'mon, ABKCO - give it a rest. Those who..."know" already HAVE these myrid albums, and, what, "The Singles, etc," just didn't milk it enough for you? I said, we already HAVE these albums. Give it a rest, please?
