Book Description

When Danni Montgomery - a survivor of a rebel raid on an African village fifteen years earlier – had been rescued from the grips of Obasanji, the rebel leader of that army, she'd thought she'd lost her soul forever. Now, a new fear lurks within the confines of her world. Danni receives a cryptic letter written by her uncle Roland, her only living relative, who has mysteriously disappeared somewhere deep within the African Congo.

The letter speaks of a fantastic discovery, one that will change the fate of the troubled United States from China's imminent attack. A rare earth element known as Promethium, the missing element needed for the completion of Viper 6, an unprecedented stealth missile that will shift the position of world leader back to the United States.

Now, Danni is leading a team of mercenaries of her own, led by the charming and all-too-perfect Kayden Moreau, on a journey into the harsh, remote corners of the Congo. A journey where Danni makes a phenomenal discovery of her own. While searching for her uncle and his remarkable find, Danni comes face to face with the demon of her nightmares, and learns he is the only one who can help find her uncle and save her country. Consumed by hatred, Danni must make a choice: in order to secure the safety of her uncle and the fate of the United States, she must decide if she will forgive the man who murdered her mother and changed her life forever, or will her desire for revenge prove stronger than she can bear...

5.0 out of 5 stars As exciting as Raiders of the Lost Ark! August 16, 2013
By L. Kuhn
Format:Kindle Edition
A very well written, well researched novel with a heroine who is both strong and vulnerable. The author takes the reader to the Congo with a fascinating story that keeps you on the edge of your seat. It's action-adventure with a hint of romance. Dee Ann is an excellent story teller and I look very forward to her next novel. I strongly recommend buying The Consequential Element. It's worth much more than the Kindle price!

4.0 out of 5 stars Non-Stop Action and a Promise of More August 7, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I read the book while on a camping trip, so I had little to distract me from the story and I'm glad. The book is fast-paced and there's a trans-continental chase that ends in Africa. This is where the author excels. Her knowledge of the culture and conflicts is exemplary. She is unflinching in her descriptions when it comes to violence and those who inflict it, but she buffers the horror of guerrilla warfare with her love of the people and the land.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Consequential Element September 17, 2013

I just finished reading "The Consequential Element"author D.A.Waite. I found this book engrossing and entertaining. It is refreshing to see the author did not get bogged down with over discriptive writing.I would like to commend the author for doing her homework. I chked on some of the people and placs and found them to to be accurate . Not that ac ury is necessary in a fictional book.
I enjoyed this book and I am looking forward to the next .

5.0 out of 5 stars A Book Worth Reading! August 17, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I loved reading "The Consequential Element." The fast paced intrigue and action held my attention and once I began to read the book I found it difficult to put down. I felt the characters and plot were well formed and well written. The setting of the story, the Dominican Republic of the Congo and Botswana, the view into the Congolese Rebels' Army of Children, and the creepy crawlies of the jungle, for me, heighten the intrigue.. It is well written, well researched and well worth the read..

5.0 out of 5 stars Tour de Force August 3, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Dee Ann Waite's The Consequential Element was a tour de force. I was hooked from the first page. I enjoyed reading the book mostly because the characters were so well-developed and enjoyable to read that I felt like I knew them. What I also liked about the book was that it not only had great characters, but an amazing storyline that was filled with drama and suspense. I found it to be hard to put down once I picked it up.

I highly recommend this book to anyone that is looking for a great read! Five Stars!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars A good read. June 24, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The plot was good. I'm not well-versed in the job descriptions of various government workers, I would have appreciated additional/more in-depth background information for each character. With most descriptions being shallow, I was surprised by the depth used to describe Sao's uniform. The ending, although predictable, felt too abrupt for me. I would consider this book to be a good read for middle school and early high school.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Very Good Mystery and Thriller January 26, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
There are no brakes on this story. The author always goes full speed ahead. Think of the Bourne books but with a more coherent plot. Ms. Waite combines African rebels, CIA types, spies, double agents, a mysterious and important mineral, random psychopaths and mixes them up into a very good mystery. In dealing with spies and conspiracies, its' very easy to go over the cliff. Many, if not most, thrillers do.The plots become incoherent and just don't stand up under any type of logic. The author comes a bit close to the edge at times but brings all the threads together. There is also some very good prose. I was reading a female SF writer - award winning - before I read this book. Ms. Waite's prose is just as good, if not better, than the award-winning writer and, to me, her characters are more realistic.

The story grabs you right away and I loved the characters. It dragged at times and there were some editing issues (like the jungle section) but all in all a good read.
