Whilst the last members were signing [the Constitution], Doctor FRANKLIN, looking towards the President's chair, at the back of which a rising sun happened to be painted, observed to a few members near him, that painters had found it difficult to distinguish in their art, a rising, from a setting, sun. I have, said he, often and often, in the course of the Session, and the vicissitudes of my hopes and fears as to its issue, looked at that behind the President, without being able to tell whether it was rising or setting; but now at length, I have the happiness to know, that it is a rising, and not a setting sun. --Benjamin Franklin (1787)

The free system of government we have established is so congenial with reason, with common sense, and with a universal feeling, that it must produce approbation and a desire of imitation, as avenues may be found for truth to the knowledge of nations. --James Madison (1826)

If in the opinion of the People, the distribution or modification of the Constitutional powers be in any particular wrong, let it be corrected by an amendment in the way which the Constitution designates. But let there be no change by usurpation; for though this, in one instance, may be the instrument of good, it is the customary weapon by which free governments are destroyed. --George Washington (1796)

I keep this with me all the time now! It is such a simple and beautiful work. Amidst the cacophony of puffed up post modern windbags the eloquence of the framers words are so refreshing! Buy it, read it, share it, believe it and never surrender one aspect of the freedoms our Constitution has allowed us to experience. Every American should own one of these. I picked one up for myself, wife, and son. It's full of great information, from the declaration of independence through the drafts of the constitution as well as bill of rights and the reasoning behind why we needed a bill of rights in the first place. To top it off there are questions with answers and notable quotes from our founding fathers. I absolutely love this it is definitely pocket size and worth the little cost. They want to stop teaching civics in school so all the more reason to add a few of these to your arsenal for freedom.

With so much talk about the Constitution and Constitutional issues today, (and deservedly so) I thought that I had better review it. It's only been about 46 years since I last took a class in High School wherein the Constitution figured prominently. I can't help but wonder if the Constitution is taught at all today, particularly when I see Watters World on O'Reilly, or I see other bits in the same vein, like "man in the street" segments that air (and not too much of that on any other channels, unfortunately). I'm glad I bought it.

But being 54 now I was interested in knowing more. This booklet is cheap and complete. I recommend it to every american who cares about life , liberty and the pursuit of happiness to get one. In these times of diminishing rights we all need to know what this document says.
