5.0 out of 5 stars Grateful for the Opportunity December 10, 2013

I am grateful for the wonderful opportunity to know and read the best that's out there. I hope they do it every year. I will be purchasing McBride's book to start and then with George Packard's book, then one or two others.

Hilarious laugh out loud read. Have recommended this to all my over 50 friends. Truer words were never written. As people age, there should be some grace in accepting our bodily changes.

Good way to take a look at great books from the year. You can decide if these are books you want to read in their entirety.

5.0 out of 5 stars A GREAT SELECTION OF GREAT WRITING May 1, 2014

They say that "the best things in life come in small packages." These "excerpts" (especially the first one about Benjamin Franklin's youngest sister) are awesome. Check out Amazon's "Authors Website" for more information about this Harvard professor and excellent writer herself.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thank you, Penguin December 4, 2013

I have often wondered what these books were like. I will definitely read "The Book of Ages." It was fascinated in a good way. "Hitler's Furies" was fascinating in a creepy way. Let all take note what human beings are capable of when power and a sense of superiority and entitlement reign. It wasn't clear from the excerpt what "The Unwinding" was about, but I agree with the idea and I live near the Red Birch stores. I'll be looking for that one, too. "The Internal Enemy" was also fascinating. Scientology needs a good expose written, but the history books were the best.
