This book is so Much Fun! I just had to get this Nice big Collected edition! This most excellent spin off of Channel Zero is a fast paced Grind house style Noir tale about Secret Street messengers and their dangerous world!! I own all four of the origional publications for this book released by Ait/planet/lar but this collected edition is well worth the money as it has awesome bonus materal scripts and sketches and other neat behind the scene looks at how indie comic magic is made!!! BUY THIS BOOK BRIAN WOOD IS GOD!!

When the individual Couriers stories came out I bought them right away. I wasn't familiar with Brian Wood at first and was buying them based on Rob G and my love of Teenagers From Mars. And it was because of Couriers that I got into DMZ.

So when I saw this collection, I got rid of the individual Couriers prestige formats (or whatever you want to call them) and went for this beautiful collection. Some of you might not care for G's art but it balances that line of simplicity and detail beautifully. He adds the details when needed, and never goes overboard so that you can enjoy the story and want to go back and check out certain pages. With the writing you can see little glimpses of what would be to come in DMZ. Now, it's not something that I will recommend and loan out to all my friends. But I do recommend it to the ones who like 70's action and revenge films, or late 80's/early 90's Cantonese action flicks. It's a fun fun fun book, and worth picking up if you like the Crank movies and appreciate it for what it is.

The art is inconstant between "tp's", never really amazing, sometimes to much like a draft. the history looks like a lot of potencial . but it just didn't get there . there are better comics out there. said so , you can still have a shot with this, just don't expect much.

If you're like me, you swallow up graphic novels too fast for your pocketbook to keep up. Many omnibuses are cost-prohibitive. If their not expensive, they may be reprints from the golden or silver age, less satisfying than contemporary fare. This book is very affordable and is filled with lots of material. The book has a great sense of humor and a compelling plot.

For those of you curious why the font for the Couriers is Helvetica and not Courier, the story takes place in NYC and Helvetica is the official font of the NYC subway. It's a great gift for young people moving to the city.

Interesting, but for some reason, it is not engaging enough. I think it's that the characters can be bland at times.
