I haven't listened to many Mark Isham soundtracks, save for Crash, but Crazies is a solid 15-track score of dark original music. The overall vibe of the soundtrack is ethereal, with some gothic rock and atmospheric sounds weaved in. The instrumentation is very stark, but used to great effect.

The Crazies isn't as hard as Nine Inch Nails or other electronic and industrial rock albums, but it's still a solid score. The standout song on the album is "Had to Be Sure", a nine-minute track that's largely ambient with some harp and acoustic guitar here and there. The harder electronic tracks on the album, such as Oil Pen and Getaway, are unusually the shortest songs in the soundtrack.

Not the best score I've heard in years, but still right up my alley. If you enjoyed the score to movies like Book of Eli, or are a fan of dark ethereal music, you would definitely want to add this soundtrack to your collection.

This soundtrack is superb. It's perfect for the movie, which I consider one of the best, if not the best, Zombie movie ever made. The Crazies is a thinking persons Zombie movie. Everything makes sense in a series of horrific malicious events. The characters, action and set pieces fall together perfectly. The acting, direction and settings are inspired. The movie is exceptionally well served by the soundtrack. It adds an eeriness to the scenes that is so perfectly creepy that, at times, I found myself looking around the room or inadvertently jumping at imagined sounds. This is truly a rarity in horror music soundtracks; perfectly composed and exceptionally listenable.
It's outstanding and has my highest recommendation!

I knew I wanted this soundtrack when I found myself watching the credits again for the music. This is real good mood /think piece. Loaded with texture. Lots of driving beats and surprises. There is no cheese here! Just a good heavy atmosphere creating piece. It greets with deep production and bass that makes you praise god that you bought a good subwoofer. It has the staying power through the whole soundtrack and as soon as you finish it you want to start it again.
Turn down the lights or better yet light a candle, turn this on and let your mind do the walking - Fantastic!
